So.... who's excited about GW taking over the Heresy?

It's a combination of the old kits being pretty crap and just preferring the aesthetics of... Well, any Mark that isnt VII. The new kits are great in terms of customisability and General quality, I just don't like the aesthetics as much as MkII-VI.

But is it quantity of players you want or the quality?

This is why I'm not so keen, my local GWS and club all bad mouth FW and the Heresy and are all tau elder and neuron players, those attitudes they bring I don't think I'd want to play against, it's hard enough when we do an apocalypse game and everyone gets piss because I bring the super heavies, apparantly if im on one side it's unfair yet those 4 knights 30 odd fire prisms and teseract vaults are fine against my fell blade falchion glaivé and titans.

those attitudes aren't what I feel the essential core of the 30k hobby are.

I definitely see what you're saying, and agree with a lot of it. The thing I'd bring back to offer is simply a numbers game. If there's a ratio of bad attitude players to good attitude players, if you increase the numbers, yes you will get more bad apples, but you will find more gems too :)

Why must I be in Aus :(

Damn you and your sense!

it comes with being Canadian? I mean, we're not that different. We both (canadians and aussies) live in semi-lifeless wastelands. Ours just so happens to go into the negative spectrum of the thermometer while yours goes into the high positives.

I'm in America, the land of the semi wastelives :P I'm surrounded by them for miles!!!

If GW makes plastic Heresy-era armors and a HH starter box, I'm a happy man. It means I won't have to invest in any of FW's ridiculous-looking bolters, which was gonna be my least-favorite part of my eventual Heresy army.

But...but... FW has so much Bolter Variety!

And they'll probably do one of those bolter types in the box...

Guys, I literally can't sit still in hope of this being true. I'll probably buy two or three starter boxes to build up my heresy forces.

The only thing that would ruin it for me is if the kits in the set are covered in heraldry and symbols of a specific Legion I'm not interested in (I wouldn't bother with filing bits off). I'm hoping for Sons of Horus or neutral kits :-D

Imagine a plastic Contemptor... Or an interesting Legion Praetor.

I think Forgeworld did mess up some of the lore.

Originally the Legions were around 10,000 to 25,000 strong, but then they decided to go Super Saiyan on us and multiplied the number by 10.

Nothing to do with Forge World. (Or Black Library, as someone later incorrectly corrected you.) That was actually GW, about 10 years ago when the IP manager wrote the first in-depth look at the Heresy for the Visions books, which were later compiled in Collected Visions.

As to why a few of the early HH novels got it wrong, I've mentioned that a squillion times in the last few years:

"The earlier BL books (before and including A Thousand Sons) were operating from the wrong sources. While writing The First Heretic, I asked at a Horus Heresy meeting if we could nail the proper Legion sizes down. It was agreed by Games Workshop's IP Manager, Alan Merrett (responsible for a lot of the HH lore over the years) that they averaged 100,000 strong, as noted in Horus Heresy: The Collected Visions and the most recent Codex: Chaos Space Marines (now called the Gavdex).

It's worth noting the anomaly is Prospero Burns, but that was largely written the same time as A Thousand Sons, just released very late.

Huh, the more you know.

When I first saw the rumor I basically went the sky is falling then I actually read the rumor and it doesn't seem so bad. I would welcome some plastic heresy marine if done right. And of games workshop stays away from the rules and fluff with a ten foot pole. Also no one invite Phil Kelly when they are Doing ultra marines I don't want another damnos. Let one of the bald brothers of awesomeness handle the rules and fluff ( wait is Alan Bligh bald? I though he was). Then I would be happy. Also plastic contemptor would be cool I though I heard forgeworld say once that it is one of their best selling kits. Imagine how much GW would make especially if it's heresy with you having them in squads.
