Davidus Posted February 22, 2015 Share Posted February 22, 2015 I suppose its time after many years of lurking, time to come out of the woodworks and show the fine people here my attempts at an Imperial Fists successor chapter. The name is a WiP, the backstory is WiP, even the models are WiP! but then thats the whole reason I'm rambling here. A lot of the stuff I've been putting together I mustered from my former salamanders army where I was fortuitous to have enough money and a magpie complex to feed it, I have two army lists in mind that i'm loosely sticking to, and I'm hoping that by posting here, the public pressure will spur me on to carry on modeling. http://i.imgur.com/1rHG0MN.jpg My first list is basically 1 captain on bike 1 command squad on bikes armed with meltaguns and apothecary and 4 bike squads armed with graviton guns comes to 1000 points exactly. my second list is 1 captain 4 tactical marine squads with heavy bolters and plasma guns 1 full sternguard squad with heavy bolters and storm bolters 1 full squad of centurions 1 thunderfire cannon and thats around 2000 points So I suppose its time for a picture! http://i.imgur.com/uO8EhKL.jpg http://i.imgur.com/4bmvRR1.jpg I apologize for the quality of my photos, but over the coming months I intend to finance a light-box setup, a camera and an airbrush. Stercus Posted February 22, 2015 Share Posted February 22, 2015 Those are nice. The colour is even and neatly painted and the detailing is crisp. I'd be interested to see some pictures with better lighting, the black and dark blue can seem very similar as it is. Keep on cracking with these, you're doing good work. Thought I'd make another attempt, this time with the flash on, to take better pictures of my models, sadly this had the opposite effect and has saturated the colours and put an ugly light on my mistakes. hopefully when my next payday comes around I'll be forking out for something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Portable-Camera-Studio-Lighting-Backdrop/dp/B008V645ZG/ref=pd_cp_diy_0 The "camera" I'm using now isn't what I'd hope it to be, I'm using the camera on my galaxy S5, I previously used the S3 and the photos I took with that phone were of a much higher quality, so I'm let down with my "upgrade" I haven't got much progress made today, I'm currently working on the second man of my six man Devastator Centurion squad, the legs are fully painted, and I'm just working on the torso now http://i.imgur.com/RaCT3aK.jpg As for the chapter iconography, I've settled to maintain ties with their father chapter and kept the clutched fist motif. I had the pleasure of visiting Warhammer World, but with the renovations going on, there wasn't much of a Warhammer World to visit. Davidus Posted February 26, 2015 Author Share Posted February 26, 2015 So not a major update today, I managed to order myself that lightbox and will be able to take much higher quality images (or so I hope). On the painting side of things, I've finished the centurions torso and now working on his boobie bolters and powerplant, Also managed to clean up the imperial fist forge world shoulder pads and i'll be getting them painted up soon as well. Thinking about my next purchase, I'm going to invest in some shaped KR foam, my models currently have nowhere to be stored and are collecting dust on my desk. but thats me until next time! For my Imperial Fists successor I've used the usual fist motif, but gripping a large key to differentiate from the standard IF symbol. I too struggle to take pictures that are worth looking at.The mehreens are looking good though, bro! I see its a quartered scheme, not split, now.
