Fahlnor
More progress and a somewhat better photo! http://i.imgur.com/DC1r520l.jpg I'm not massively happy with how the yellow turned out but I do think it was almost my first effort painting yellow on models. Definitely happy to see it as a stepping stone to something a bit more... more. I haven't done the plasma section of the plasma pistols yet and I also haven't yet done the exhausts on the jump packs, but both of those are challenges for another day. For now, I'm calling these guys done. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/303918-my-blood-angels-painting-blog/page/5/#findComment-4119904 Share on other sites
Fahlnor
Annnnd here's a photo from the rear, because that seems to be how I do things... :P http://i.imgur.com/aMGkOPyl.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/303918-my-blood-angels-painting-blog/page/5/#findComment-4119964 Share on other sites
Fahlnor
Rapid-painting while playing DoW 2. Not the greatest photo, but gonna call this gaming standard faces: http://i.imgur.com/mNB1Xlel.jpg Have almost finished the second Tactical Squad. Need to do the third layer of green in the eyes and the white dots in the corners, then do all leather on this squad and the first squad I painted. Then will take a group photo of the completed models. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/303918-my-blood-angels-painting-blog/page/5/#findComment-4121039 Share on other sites
Njjesters4
Models are looking really good. I would hit them with a wash of nuln oil and it will really give them some depth. Fahlnor
Thanks for the comments. :) They're actually already washed. The photos maybe make it harder to see than in person, but every model is pin-washed and Nuln Oil is exactly what I used to do that. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/303918-my-blood-angels-painting-blog/page/5/#findComment-4121059 Share on other sites

Fahlnor
I spent a bunch of time this morning playing around with my camera settings, trying different camera angles, moving the lighting around and playing with the exposure and ISO settings. I still don't really know what any of them actually mean (but if you have any quick tips on how to set these things up properly, I'd appreciate it!). End result is a photo I'm a lot happier with. I also looked into post-production and found so many options they made my head boggle. I did find a series of frames, though, so I popped one on because I thought it made the photo nicer. :D Anyway, this is where I now stand: http://i.imgur.com/OorVHssl.jpg I'm also going to post the exact same photo again from imgur using a different size setting. This is mostly for my own information with regards the photos I pop up into the thread from now on. Anyway, comments appreciated as always! Test photo: http://i.imgur.com/OorVHssh.jpg Question, then: do you prefer the larger photos? Brother Galfridus
Hey man good work in the painting. Some feedback on the photos. The latest picture is much better quality than previous. For example the ones at the start of this page are fuzzy on my computer as though not enough light was there. On the pc the larger photo is much easier to see what you are painting. On my phone which is my main forum device they are the same size however there are some differences. Mainly the sharper details of the larger picture are obvious on the phone even when the pictures are otherwise the same. Must be down to pixel density. Fahlnor
Hey, folks. Photo of the third squad's Sergeant, just to show a bit of progress. Once I get the eyes done the squad will be finished and I'll get some work done on one of the Captains for a bit of a respite from Tactical Squads! http://i.imgur.com/d1pBGpEl.png Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/303918-my-blood-angels-painting-blog/page/5/#findComment-4124201 Share on other sites

Fahlnor
Looking good. Keep it up! D Thank you, brother! Haven't got a huge amount more done, but I did manage to get a Captain painted up last Sunday: http://i.imgur.com/5UaWexLl.png http://i.imgur.com/KUH0MYdl.png http://i.imgur.com/WbHCGdll.png Really rather happy with how he came out. :) Still to go: one more Tactical Squad and one more Captain. Fahlnor
Haven't been posting much lately, but I've been busy enough with painting and building. Just thought I'd share what I've been up to this morning!: http://i.imgur.com/FFY2rCLl.jpg We're looking at a Drop Pod, two refurbished Rhinos and five Tactical Marines (two heavy flamers, combi-melta, combi-plasma and a plasma gun) - who will bulk out the eBay refurbishments I painted earlier in the thread to allow me options for trying out units and lists. Happy to have got this much done in a morning! http://i.imgur.com/He7T3qWl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/LFcKDCFl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/tdQrSOAl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/soOz59Gl.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/303918-my-blood-angels-painting-blog/page/5/#findComment-4169892 Share on other sites
Fahlnor
Quick update! Nearly table-ready. Need to paint the icons on the doors still, then I want to paint the mid-panels on the outer edges of the fins black and pin wash the details. But they're pretty close to done. Hurrah! http://i.imgur.com/1FHIkEtl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/uFdGEcMl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/PXi0AHdl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/fvkPudGl.jpg Ooh, also need to do chipping and weathering on the exteriors. Can't forget to make 'em filthy! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/303918-my-blood-angels-painting-blog/page/5/#findComment-4171608 Share on other sites
evildrcheese
Ooo very fine too. Like how you've done the orbital display in the drop pod. I really stuggle with painting screens, I tried to do a target cross hair recently and they look rather shoddy... Anyway, good work! Fahlnor
These are now table-ready. Because I'm refusing to play with models which aren't painted, I'm setting two separate painting levels: "ready for playing" and "finished". These guys are definitely the former. But now I can go get more units in a state to put on the table and once I have an army done, I can come back and finish everything off. That's the plan, anyway.... http://i.imgur.com/Gerckxlh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/kzZdhiqh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/OtOrT8th.jpg http://i.imgur.com/0fwul7dh.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/303918-my-blood-angels-painting-blog/page/5/#findComment-4173516 Share on other sites
