They do look good. I gotta say though, and it's probably my experience with carbines, they just don't feel like a good fit. I'd like get my hands on some of the rifles from the FW Elysian drop troops. Actualy I want some of the models for them since they look so darn cool. They like the tempestus really shine as an air assault force, which is hard to pull off in 40k (I've done it with my wolves, but it's suboptimal with an assault focused army like that).

It's somewhat reliant on the dice rolls, as if your reserves go badly it can be curtains before the fat lady starts singing :P That said the whole game is down to dice rolls in the end, so why not go all in? All or nothing is how the Guard likes to work anyway, and an air Stormie force looks fantastic on the table top :)

Oh I agree, it does look good. It is also terrifying when it goes off without a hitch. The only problem is you gotta get something out there first turn that can start killing things and stay alive until you can get your troops on the table. It's one reason I'll be using my space wolves as allies, they can get the stuff on the table first turn and get it stuck in hard. I intend to put Murderfang and Bjorn up front with Logan and a group of first turn deepstriking assault termies, and I'll have my knight behind them with two taurox primes with command squads pushing up the field, laying down some templates. T2 the Valks come in bringing the main force.

Here are a few more pics. Slowly introducing other aspects of the force.

Annnnnnd the Test Model:

I chopped off the antenna and light scope on the carapace armour (except on the test model) For some reason, I didn't like the look of it, plus I found a lot of the antennas broke off. They have a more streamlined look now. smile.png

I started building the second platoon and the 3rd command squad. Maybe by the weekend I'll have it done.

I decided to go radical and do purple. I like purple. It's quite a stunning colour on these models. It's a sloppy quick paint job to see what it would look like, and I'm really happy with the result.

enjoy!

I hate to be a downer (but it comes so naturally) but...grenade launchers? How many soldiers are really paying points to downgrade their weaponry?

Other than that, it is such a cool thing to see. Suddenly I want more Kasrkin. Much more.

Oh it's all good. Just variety. Don't want every squad to look exactly the same now. I'm sure the flamers on BS 4 Models will roll some eyes too. smile.png

But each squad has a purpose, because after all, these (and the Taurox's) will be the majority of whats on the table.

Grenade launchers are a weapon I like, especially for a command squad. It keeps them back, but able to deliver high STR firepower at a decent distance. That said, plasma is better overall if you can afford the points. or you really need a str 4 small blast.
