Carlson793
Okay, here's the problem I've got. I have a special display project, centered on a Rhino, that I've been toying with for the better part of a year. Last week, the figures I'll be using came in, and while they're 28mm scale, they're too tall to fit inside a Rhino - on bases, the head are fully outside the roof. Now, they won't be on bases for the final display, but even so they will stand too tall - the top hatch will be sitting on top of heads without touching the frame below them. Modifying the figures is a no-go - they're the right proportions for the people they represent. So, what are options to increase the interior height of a Rhino crew compartment with the least amount of effort? I need about 6mm-7mm to clear the tallest figure. Razblood
Plasticard spacer between the chassis and the top section maybe? Carlson793
That's a possibilitYES!!! Thank you, Raz! While a plasticard spacer isn't the answer, plasticard itself just might be! If it works, I'll have a credit on the chassis to you Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/303926-q-how-can-you-increase-the-interior-height-of-a-rhino/#findComment-3961299 Share on other sites
Americanzero
Wouldn't it be easiest to just lower the floor a bit? With a little shaping and a little filling at the front and back it should work. That way you are only patching on the two shortest sides instead of all four sides. Normally, yes, but in this case, no - I've already rebuilt the interior for the project, and lowering the floor would require new Rhino sides for a redo. Gurth
Why do the models need to be able to stand up straight inside of a Rhino? Given that the Rhino is obviously based on certain 1960s real-world APCs, I highly doubt troops are expected to stand or walk around in them except in a hunched-over semi-crouch to get in and out. Carlson793
Hunched over won't work for the display I have in mind - it'd be contrary to the theme. Otherwise, I'd go for it. I even did a test fit on a Mk I Rhino chassis - definitely no dice there. Height was less than the current Mk Whatever Rhino, but real issue is it's passenger cabin is not as wide.
