Doghouse
Got a budget of about £200 but no idea where to start. Anyone got any suggestions for some thing decent for taking pictures? Interrogator Stobz
Panasonic DMC-FT25, simple, robust (waterproof), great mini pics in normal lighting, no fuss, use food mode, no flash and 2 second delay on a tripod. See my last couple of pages of my blog in my sig for that camera's pics. I use cameras all the time at work including semi professional ones like Canon EOS 7D, that little Panasonic beauty is by far the best for ease of use and great pics. Panasonic seems to have the best colour capture out of all the point and shoots I have used (I change every year for the last 10 years and they really are just better). I have used all the major brands Canon, Nikon, Sony etc, Panasonic are a value for money supprise, I've used another in the past (before I drowned it in the ocean) and it had the same excellent colour matching and ease of focus/field of view/depth of field quality for the cost. TL/DR: I'm biased now :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/303997-can-anyone-recommend-a-camera/#findComment-3963127 Share on other sites
NovemberIX
I occasionally use a Sony DSC-T70 when I want to good upclose shots because of its small size so I can get right into terrain, with its touch screen I can set the focus where I want (and light metering). I've also used a Cannon Eos Rebel XTi to good effect (though it requires lots of lighting to get the best quality) in big shots where maintaining detail is important, or false perspective (using a natural background with minis in the foreground. Usually though I'm lazy and just use my iPad for quick and muddy shots. I've found it's not so much the camera as it is the amount of light and the stability of your shot that make for good pictures (and composition but that's a whole 'nother post).
