march10k
Those things just don't die!!! I played four turns against necrons with a sisters/stormtroopers list (called for time, 3-3 draw)...six tomb blades sucked up a stupid amount of shooting: 24 exorcist missiles 4 krak missiles 4 lascannon shots 14 shots from the avenger's main gun 7 plasma shots 1 inferno pistol shot 7 hellgun/hellpistol shots The avenger bolt cannon needed 3s to wound, and the hellguns needed 6s, everything else was 2+, and everything was AP3 or better, so he was jinking the whole way. There's something wrong with it taking 61 shots that wound mostly on 2 or 3, and don't allow an armor save, to kill 6 models. My battle sisters got a round of shooting at the wraiths before taking a charge (they did me proud, losing one model per melee phase!) and my quad icarus VWB took one HP from a ghost ark and one HP from the scythe...every other shot over 4 turns went at those tomb blades...golly gee!!!?! Reclusiarch Darius
Welcome to 7th edition. Assume the supine position before your new xenos overlords. Seriously though, I know what you mean. Even basic Warriors just refuse to stay dead now. The new Reanimation Protocols are insane, especially at 4+ in Decurion. march10k
How about 4+, rerolling ones? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304006-tomb-bladesblech/#findComment-3967652 Share on other sites
Duke Danse Macabre
Can it be made up to a 3+ with Orb and Decurion? Its just near impossible to kill the damn things now and its driving me mad, every model having a base 5+ reanimation is akin to having a terminator Special save in my eyes, yes they don't have the 2+ armour but with 3+ warriors etc at half the cost its bad enough. *Furyou Miko
No, it caps out at 4+, but a theoretical 3+ does mean its still 4+ against Instant Death weapons. Also, Warriors only have a 4+ save. Without Decurion and Cryptek bonusses, this effectively means they have a 5+ save. My heavy bolters and flamers scythe through them. Duke Danse Macabre
That is true which would be agreat for a Body Guard unit. I know warriors do but thats why I see so many Immortals, the days of warrior spam are long gone. I the 6 games I have had against necrons since their lastest codex over 3 players not one has fielded Warriors, they are now the inferrior choice due to lack of survivability and other good choices being avalible elsewhere. *Furyou Miko
Yep. But you need two units of Warriors to make a Reclamation Legion, which is probably supposed to be the balancing factor in it. Duke Danse Macabre
2 Minimum choices don't take up much in the way of points. Not fought the legion yet, just immortals and orbs, have anough of a problem being driven mad by bloody stalkers. May get in another quick game against them this thursday if lucky. I'd recommend using the best weapon for this target.... I mean what you describe probably wouldn't happen again. (I've had the same thing happen when I played a lucky stick ork biker squad.) I've lost nearly a full squad of Tomb Blades to a deep strike dreadnought heavy flamer. 5++ reanimation fails... I lost 4 of 5 Tomb blades... I certainly ask where the heavy flamers are now. *Furyou Miko
That's why Vanes are a better option than Looms, heh. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304006-tomb-bladesblech/#findComment-3972251 Share on other sites
Prot
That's why Vanes are a better option than Looms, heh. True but sometimes it's just so easy to go point crazy on the toys. I've gone both ways.... cheap and dirty with Gauss, and expensive and bloaty with blasts... both have merits, but I prefer them cheap... I play a lot of different point values, and I truly find them more potent in smaller games. Taking them I don't feel them overpowered, but I do openly admit I do not use the Decurion anymore. It's a very different feeling without it. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304006-tomb-bladesblech/#findComment-3972260 Share on other sites
march10k
~shrug~ These bikes were taking 4+ jinks then 4+ reanimation, rerolling ones...brutal. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304006-tomb-bladesblech/#findComment-3973839 Share on other sites
*Furyou Miko
I see the problem. If only we still had free-floating Acts of Faith. Holy Fullisade heavy bolters would do a number on them! Spacefrisian
Savest way to deal with such stuff is to convert some sisters in to count as allies. Looking at the Tau here. Couple of pathfinders and some heavy stuff and you can say bye bye to jink and or cover save stuff. Yeah call it heresy (whatever), but its also heresy to waste so much ammo on a single unit. Besides battle Sisters conversions counting as XV88 sporting double barreled anti air railguns seems to be an idea for some awesome conversions "nuns with big guns". Naminé
The new necrons are lacking quite a lot in the old Close Combat department... Penitent Engines can make short(-ish) work of them. You won't ever table Decurion though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304006-tomb-bladesblech/#findComment-3974271 Share on other sites
