I have Started with my voids claws. Did these today in around 2 hours. Nothing fancy just table top ready. All need some touch up, light dry brush and Highlight. this is just my very rough and ready paint job. Also here is a link to my home made battle table incase your keen for a look. http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297293-started-my-space-wolves-home-battle-table/ http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv186/jay_Spazmonkey/IMG_2005.jpg http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv186/jay_Spazmonkey/IMG_2003.jpg Next up some thunderwolves Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304073-void-claws/ Share on other sites
Brother Dallo
Looking good. I like how you've gone for Heresy grey, as opposed to the baby blue colour scheme of 40k. Keep up the good work, Dallo Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304073-void-claws/#findComment-3964490 Share on other sites
Amarog
They look great for "just table ready" mate. That's like my "spent 3 weeks on these" standard lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304073-void-claws/#findComment-3964491 Share on other sites
Spazmonkey
one of the great things about grey paint is that it holds other colors really well and gives a lot of depth compared to other colors when you add washes. This is literally an under coat of the grey I use from a spray can. Then my 2 main colors blood red and gold. then a wash of devlin mud. The only part that takes work is the wolf pelts, this is grey from the can, gryphon sepia wash, then smaller wash of devlin, then very small wash of badab black. You could knock out an army in a weekend like this. would be hard work but you could do it. The great thing is this way you can come back with a dry brush and highlights to really make then look great once you have time. Yeah thanks Dallo. I just dont see space wolves in the blue. Dosnt make sense at all to me. Just dosnt to me represent what the Rout is. To me this is how space wolves should look. When you see them, to me it gives a better impression of what and who they are. I based it on the last codex cover we had. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304073-void-claws/#findComment-3964500 Share on other sites
Fangbanger
Yes mate top work! I have some voids in a box waiting for the paint treatment. Looking forward to seeing the wolves! What colour are you thinking as with grey armour, grey wolves might be a bit much...um...grey!? Spazmonkey
they are a grey base, but after several washes there is no grey lesft to be seen. its three layered washes. Gryphon sepia all over, then devlin mud wash on half the model, and the badab black wash on like 1 6th so it goes from light under belly to dark ridges.... so kind of fawn/brown ish... Leif Bearclaw
One slight criticism. You should probably paint the eye lenses in the helmets something other than grey. It makes the helmeted models look unfinished to my eyes. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304073-void-claws/#findComment-3964676 Share on other sites

I am literally just getting them basically painted for the table top so they are ready when my league starts. BlodVargarna
Using Void Claws. Because they must DS turn 1 but have no shooting and can't assault, where do you have them come in? Do you hide them or DS in your deployment zone? Btw nice job on the models. Spazmonkey
I have them with Arjac they come in turn one with my melta dread. normaly they come on behind a tank are try to pop it.using tanks ruins and the dread and drop pod for cover for line of sight blocking. last game the unit killed a dread, whirlwind, razorback, 5 man tac squad and a chapter master. plus let my storm wolf come in turn 2. so was pretty happy with them. They took a lot of heat off my thunderwolves. Last night they deepstruck in behind a wraithknight. took a round of shooting, Charged in and killed it in one turn. Only lost 2 models. dont forget that five of them is 20 S5 WS5 attacks rerolling wounds. not much survives that kind of charge. People over think the Meta I believe. Fangbanger
My thoughts exactly. I haven't run them yet but it sounds like we have very similar armies and tactics Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304073-void-claws/#findComment-3965118 Share on other sites
Spazmonkey
to put it in perspective as well I am running them in a 1250 point league. Here is my list. Swap units. I have 300 points I can change between games. These are the units I would generally swap them out for. Stormwolf voids claws x5 - Swap unit is x5 TH / SS termies. Deployed with arjac. Arjac- attached to the void claws. x3 thunder wolves x2 storm shields. x1 Battle leader TH / SS x2 Whirlwinds X1 Vindicator - Swap unit is x5 GH in Rhino x1 melta gun and close combat weapons Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304073-void-claws/#findComment-3965128 Share on other sites
Fangbanger
Ah not the same at all then....! I am in an escalation and was going to add the voids at the 1750 mark., maybe earlier. But the idea is to add another distraction in the backfield and to help with reserves. wulfgar hammerfist
Nice work! I especially like the wolf pelts. I have a pack of Void Claws on my painting table as well. Hopefully I'll get them done over the next couple of weeks. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304073-void-claws/#findComment-3965282 Share on other sites
Amarog
on another note i really like the green claws. makes them stand out not only against the colour scheme but in general as a "we are void claws and we will f*@# you up" kind of way Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304073-void-claws/#findComment-3965362 Share on other sites
