captain sox
Hello all! Been building my first Taurox model, and I must say it is a fun build. I'm probably in the minority, but I actually like the quad treads on it. Much nicer looking in reality, gives it a nice robust stance. This will probably be a work in progress, as I'll update questions I have about these vehicles (mostly the Prime variant). My first question is in regards to the Salvo rule. Since the Volley Gun is mounted on a vehicle, is the Salvo rule effected by the movement of the vehicle, or will it always fire 4 shots at full range? This is important as to pairing the weapons. Thanks for reading Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304142-taurox-questions/ Share on other sites
librisrouge
It always gets to fire four shots. If it only had two shots when it moved that nobody would ever take it over the autocannon, even though they already mostly take the autocannon. captain sox
Interesting. So it would go well with the Taurox Gatling Cannon then? :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304142-taurox-questions/#findComment-3966198 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Yes, vehicles are relentless in that respect. You always get all of the pyew pyew pyew ;) It'd mesh well with the gatling but who doesn't like an autocannon? Plus as a Prime you're running it with Stormies who could do with the longer range weaponry. elmo
I have noticed that Lord Commissar WarriorFish is having some pyew, pyew problems today. Probably too much Amasec last night.. WarriorFish
I did have a lot, but not enough to hinder my performance All pyew is landing on target and effectively, as is proper and dictated by the blessed pages of the Uplifting Primer: Identify your target. Concentrate your fire on it to the exclusion of all else. When it is destroyed choose another target. That is the way to secure victory! I'm going against the grain here... building / thinking outside the comfort zone. My Stormies have another means of riding into battle... and the Taurox won't be charging ahead alone. The Imperium has other fast vehicles in the arsenal! And other units that have a deep strike Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304142-taurox-questions/#findComment-3966504 Share on other sites
Myrkul
Prime can be taken as a fast attack option w/o Scions correct? Then can just toss a vet squad or w/e in it right. If so, its not a bad fire support option to move troops up the board quickly. walter h
I don't believe so. Prime is only available to scion. The Taurox, is available for troops. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304142-taurox-questions/#findComment-3967115 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
walter is right, the Taurox Prime is only available as a dedicated transport to Scion units. Regular Taurox for regular troops. Myrkul
I stand corrected. Was confusing it w/ GW new model in the SW/BA codexes. Probably something we'll see when the 7th addition IG codex comes out (w/e that is). Vash
Taurox with the Gatling cannon and volley gun is a nice combo. I have even tried out the Missile launcher option with volley gun. The shear number of AP3 shots makes it a mobile anti space marine vehicle. In on of my few test games that last combo targeted a 6 man unit who came out from a Drop pod. The volley guns took out the stern guards (I think it was stern guards, loaded up to their teeth with special rules), and the missile launcher took out the character who had joined them with an instant death shot. Now given, my opponent didn't know that the Taurox had that fire power potential and it was hard to see it since I proxied the Taurox.... (shame on me). So, I would say that the volley guns on the Taurox are not bad in comparison to the Autocannon. It all depends on what else you have in your army and what you need/lack.
