sedibear
Greetings! As the last few of my Sororitas are getting painted to completion, I have decided to make this my next project, to truck alongside an Inquisitiorial detachment that contains Ordo Malleus and Ordo Xenos Inquisitors. Based on the army list given in the old Citadel Journal #49, and using the point values of their modern codices/equivalents: HQ: 1 Inquisitor (Mandatory) - Definitely going to be an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor 1 Canoness - wish we still had the Jump pack Canoness. :( Elites (!) 1 Vindicare Assassin 1 Calidus Assassin Troops: 2-4 Celestian Squads equipped with double meltaguns (since we cannot take Dominion squads in this army list), in Drop Pods (Space Marine drop pods) Fast Attack: 3 Seraphim Squads, two with Dual Hand Flamers and one with dual Inferno Pistols. Heavy Support: 3 Deathstorm Drop Pods (replaces the old Deathwing Drop Pods). - Unfortunate that they don't have the 5x Multi-melta option. Will be running them with Assault Cannons to keep the Trinity feel. We get a bonus act of faith that causes Pinning (hooray?) Concerns: 1. Finding a TO or opponent who will let me use this army list. It's printed in a Citadel Journal, so technically legal? :P 2. The Forgeworld stuff. 3. Having to use Celestians instead of Battle Sisters. :S 4. The Citadel Journal lists the Drop Pod as holding 5 models. The C:SM codex lists Drop Pods at 10 models capacity. Thoughts? Comments? Would you play against this list? :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304175-ordo-hereticus-strike-force-7th-ed/ Share on other sites
Duke Danse Macabre
Think this is whats considered as being a little too hopeful, most of it can be taken in a legal force but a few things like two assassins etc just wont work. march10k
Yeah...this is extremely problematic. 1) Two assassins is a cardinal sin, I'd love to field a vindicare and a culexis, but you only get one. OTOH, a vindicare and a GK libby...legal! If you can't monkey-stomp psychers, out-psycher them! 2) With sisters being ideally a short-ranged shooting army, drop pods are an easy button that we lack for a reason. In the context of AS, they're all gain and no pain. To balance them, they'd have to be at least 70 points appiece! sedibear
Haha yeah, the Citadel Journal actually lists Drop Pods at 70 points each with 5-model capacity. The assassins I can live without. What's really important, both fluffwise and gameplaywise, are the drop pods. They're supposed to represent elite Sisters of Battle deployed by an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor for rapid-strike assassination missions. WAR
I beleve the marine drop pods were 5 at the same time for the same points. but they were molded wiith 5 marines in them. I say take 5 heavy bolters or 5 multi meltas instead of the whirlwind/ assault cannons. J3f
I made an Ordo Hereticus Strike Forve Alternative Army List in my Homebrew Codex Sisters of Battle. It's much more than a formation and uses several new units, most notably Flyers. It's up to date for 7th Edition. It's not really compatible with the current Codex: Adepta Sororitas, but have a look anyway. sedibear
Cool list J3f, i'll refer to it as I build the force up. Now that I think about it more, this is more about having a collection of models that can represent the Strike Force more than being able to bring it to a table. Of course, it should follow some structure so that if it ever makes it to the table I can use it. The closest I can think of that is completely 7th ed legal is Unbound using the Space Wolves/Blood Angels fast attack Drop Pods and embarking stuff into it. vonny
or bring a Blood Angel Librarian/apothecary and some tacs, paint them up as deathwatch - there you have your 'inquisitorial' marines. *Furyou Miko
Wouldn't it be nice if there was a formation just for drop pods? :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304175-ordo-hereticus-strike-force-7th-ed/#findComment-3969802 Share on other sites
Spacefrisian
Wouldn't it be nice if there was a formation just for drop pods? Yeah its called unbound. But you dont get fancy bonus rules with it. Like droppods with furious charge :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304175-ordo-hereticus-strike-force-7th-ed/#findComment-3969807 Share on other sites
*Furyou Miko
Nah, Unbound means your whole army has to be Unbound. I want a Battleforged Sisters list :p That said, a formation for the OHSF would be easy. I'd say Detachment, but the formation requires less general rule-twisting. Contains: 1 Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor 0-1 Ordo Hereticus warband 2-6 Celestian Squads 0-3 Repentia Squads 3+ Drop Pods 0-3 Deathwind Drop Pods Benefits: Objective Secured: All Celestian squads in the formation gain Objective Secured. Burning Ash: All units in the formation have the Shrouded special rule on the turn they disembark from their Drop Pods.
