Quixus
How about asking your local copy shop whether they let you print on you own transfer paper? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304249-custom-transfers/#findComment-3968106 Share on other sites

Quixus
Just make sure you get the right ones. Copy Shops almost certainly have laser printers. So don't get the sheets for ink jets. I can confirm ink jet paper doesn't work well in laser printers... :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304249-custom-transfers/#findComment-3968249 Share on other sites
Stoic Raptor
I'm having trouble finding inkjet transfer paper locally. I got this little Testors kit that came with a couple of sheets, which have been resting under a stack of books for weeks and are still too curled to dare use in my printer. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304249-custom-transfers/#findComment-3969986 Share on other sites
JeffTibbetts
I've used the Testors paper and it's just fine. I wouldn't sweat the curling unless it's really bad. It curls around like crazy inside the printer anyway. Unless it can't get a good grip, I think it'd be fine. If they haven't straightened out in weeks, I'd just use one and see what happens. I know it can be pricey, but so is paying for it and never using it. :D I mean that in the nicest way possible. Stoic Raptor
Thanks - I'm just worried that it'll jam in the (brand-new/expensive) printer. I don't know why it's so hard to find flat, full sized transfer sheets around here anywhere. Guest
Well I found a guy to print a sheet, cost me £20 for a custom sheet of black transfers, Will give me enough to do over 4 companies :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304249-custom-transfers/#findComment-3970057 Share on other sites
Stoic Raptor
Does anyone know if print shops have the ability to print a white decal on a clear sheet? I mean, the technology has to exist somewhere, because GW and other model companies do it. There are a lot of chapter/company symbols I'd like to do custom but they are white and meant to apply to a dark surface. JeffTibbetts
If anyone knows a good company that they've had dealings with, please, please share it. I've been trying to sort this issue for about 2 years. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304249-custom-transfers/#findComment-3970098 Share on other sites

JeffTibbetts
Jeff scroll up on that link... You will see all the US companies I am sure some of them would be very reputable. That's why I mentioned places that people have done business with. I've tried a couple of places and been very disappointed in the results. I'm sure some are fine, but I don't know which ones. Quixus
That's £20 for a single A4 or letter sheet? Sounds overpriced Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304249-custom-transfers/#findComment-3970608 Share on other sites
Guest
A4... But its a price I was willing to pay :) I do not have a printer etc. I could have set out the layout better thou but I have enough small numbers for 6 companies :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304249-custom-transfers/#findComment-3970610 Share on other sites
Stoic Raptor
Yeah, if you break the cost down into how many models you can do with a single sheet, that's pennies per model. My local hobby store finally got some inkjet transfer paper in stock, so now all that remains is deciding what decals I want to do. One of the things I want to try is designing a banner transfer on the computer (my freehand banner skills are... lacking) and apply it to the plastic banners.
