++March of the Legions: Debriefing++ ETL & MotL

I wanted to put a question to the members here about possibly pausing the March of the Legions for the ETL. I know the ETL is very popular and motivates a lot of people to get work done on their armies, so do we want to pause the March for a bit to ease the load for those who are planning to do the ETL?

Keep in mind, next month is a catch up month, so there's already one month off. Do we want to make it two?

When you say next month do you mean April or May? I thought it was supposed to be the 7th month, (Alpha, RG, Sallies, WB, SoH, TSons, break) which would be May but I'm reasonably sure April is next :) I ask because I need it :)

As for the ETL, I've never took part before so not sure. But I'd like to this year.

i'm not sure if i'll manage to do both MotL and ETL vows (as my ETL vows are rather big) :/

I mean, I'd just double dip (in this case Triple with the Casual Challenge) with units done for MoTL and ETL, if the pledges fit the bill.

that's the problem ... with the casual challange, i can vow exactly my months schedule from ETL (f. e. the interrior of my reaver :P), but a single model (from a specific Legion) wouldn't be that easy to integrate :<

Sooooo... For those of us who haven't really been paying attention, and are rather sheepishly not 100% clear on what exactly E Tenebrae Lux is, can someone please fill me in?

(I do know the Latin translation, but it doesn't really help)

via good old Captain Semper (this one if from the last ETL):

E TENEBRAE LUX (ETL) is an open-for-all event that aims to motivate the frater to build up their armies in solid blocks while cultivating member interaction within individual forums as well as on a cross-forum level. ETL is designed to play down the inherent disadvantage of low traffic of some forums, levelling out as much as possible the chance of victory for all.

The challenge is to paint legal units for your preferred army over a three month period and to the best of your ability. The reward is twofold: a personal and a collective one. On a personal level everyone who completes his/her vows will receive the “Custos Fidei”, the ETL badge of honour – a glorious distinction as veterans of previous ETLs will testify. On a collective level, the faction that cumulatively has the most points painted (as per relevant Codices and Army lists) wins and becomes “Primus Inter Pares” i.e. ETL Champion! In the first ETL the Black Templars emerged victorious totalling 45k pts, while last year, in the second ETL, the Dark Angels took their revenge totalling 58k pts! So who will take title this year? Remember: even a last minute hero may tip the balance!!!

as this years ETL should start in May (?), we would need ~ a 3 month pause at the best (or 3 smaller catch up months? first for AL & RG, 2nd for WB and Salamanders, 3rd for SoH and TS???)

ETL is a tentative May 1st. As for what we should during the ETL, I think we should open up May through August as "catch-up" timemonths as well as allowing Death Guard and Ultras to be completed at anytime, giving a more relaxed four months that allow some breathing space whilst not falling 3 months behind.

Cheers,

Jono

Excellent idea, Grot. I didn't want to postpone everything for 3 months and this is a great compromise. It shall be done.

This makes me happy...  Count me in!

if i understand this correctly:

-May: Alpha Legion & Raven Guard.

-June: Salamanders & Word Bearers.

-July: Sons of Horus & Thousand Sons.

-August: Death Guard.

-September: Ultramarines.

...and so on.

looking forward to august, already got Librarian Atia of the fourteenth legion built and converted.
