1000pt world eaters ROW

So I've decided to start a loyalist army of world eaters led by Macer Varren of the 12th company. It's going to roughly be based around an assault company but being after the events of Istvaan iii it's going to be a bit ragtag. I figure after the betrayal the world eaters on either side would be going beserk with rage and so the loyalists could still have the Rites of War aswell as rampagers and red butchers all affected by the butchers nails.

So beserker assault ROW

Praetor - iron halo, paragon blade, jump pack - 170

13 tactical marines - 180

14 tactical marines - 190

12 assault marines - 280

Contemptor Mortis dreadnought with kheres pattern assault cannon - 180

1000pts

I chose assault marines to keep the theme and to stay with the praetor. Plus there's 3 troops choices for the ROW to work and a contemptor for AA. When I expand to 2000pts I'll just fill out the troops choices and add some more Armour.

Any advice is welcome, I'm not sure if the contemptor will be enough AA or if there's a better option?

First  at 1000pts you are still going to need some Anti-tank support because at you will see at least 1 SICARAN BATTLE TANK, 1 RAPIER LASER DESTROYER should help with that, or good old MeltaBombs work too

Second at 1000pts 1 Contemptor is fine at 2000pts 2 Contemptors are great.

Legion armies are by their nature expensive in points because the smaller squad size you take the more 'tax' you pay per model for most unit selections. This combined with the highly specialized nature of legionnaires compared to Chaos Marines or Tactical Marines (no Special or Heavy Weapons in your Tacticals unless they are support and all have the same weapon) means that playing at point values lower then 1500 will lead to serious weaknesses in your army.

Because playing at 1000 points is so tenuous, I would first recommend that you look for ways to mitigate the costs of your required units so you can afford the toys necessary to have a responsive army. Try doing this:

1) Drop the Rite of War and convert the Praetor into a Chaplain instead. You still get Hatred on your main close combat unit, save some points (which can then be spent on power weapons for your assault squad), and more importantly remove the restrictions related to additional Troops (read - stacking on Troops isn't a good thing unless you are running Pride of the Legion). Drop a Tactical Squad as well.

2) Use the spare points to add some ranged anti-marine or anti-tank. Executioner Predator, Scorpius Whirlwind, and Quad Mortar Rapiers are all really good choices for this.

Hey guys thanks for the responses and ideas.

Caustic63 and ROBOcaster I totally agree, I've rewritten the list keeping the few units that I'll definitely have when I expand points wise. The only thing I'm not totally sold on is anti-armor and air. Anyway my updated list let me know what you think.

Centurion with jump pack, articifer armor, retractor field and power weapon - 105

15 tactical marines - 200

14 assault marines with 2 power weapons and sarge with powerfist and melta bombs - 350

Contemptor Mortis dread with kheres assault cannon - 180

3 rapier weapons batteries with laser destroyer array - 165

1000pts

I've got my troops and HQ covered and I think I have sufficient anti air and armor.

Almost forgot but to keep with the assault company theme could jetbikes or similar be okay to use in an anti-armor role instead of the weapons batteries?
