Retro Ultramarines

Recommended Posts

I painted these guys up as a present for my brother. His first 40K army the Ultramarines 2nd Company, back in the day when they rocked yellow shoulder rims. It was fun painting them in a 2nd Edition style, and a good opportunity to practice some basic freehand.

Terminators (can you name the Assault Cannon conversion bits?):

Devastators:

Super advanced and intricate objective markers:

My brother's Captain, probably painted circa 2001:

I’m also painting up 5 Sternguard. Should have them done this week or next.

Cheers guys biggrin.png

Arkley, you're correct!

Jeff: believe me, I would have LOVED some Goblin Green. If these weren't intended to fit with an existing army, I would have been all over that.

Cheers everyone biggrin.png

I'd offer to send you my pot of goblin green paint, but it dried up too much to rescue.
Great work on the veteran UM's!

The only thing more retro than a pot of Goblin Green is a dried-up pot of Goblin Green. Nice work smile.png

Loving the retro Ultramarines, especially the checkers on the Terminator's fist! Any more on the way?

Thanks, and yes - more Ultramarines with more checkers! Wrapped up the Sternguard today:

Here's the collection of them together:

This will be it for now. That said, I've got a stash of obscure Marines who will eventually be painted up as retro Imperial Fists. Keep your eyes peeled . . .

I am liking where this is going. Great job on the Sternguard. It is not easy making those marines look good, and you have done a fantastic job. Love the laurels on the helms.
