Crimson Fist Chaplain

Recommended Posts

Im currently planning a small CF project and want to add a chaplain to the roster. I have several generic chaps to choose from but wanted something a bit different. So I ordered this guy: http://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Space-Marine-Damned-Sergeant-with-Bolt-Pistol-Power-Weapon

I would fill in the flame work and replace both arms but Im not sure I want to waste all that chest detail. Would this guy look acceptable as a CF chaplain?

The alternative is to use the skull helmet guy from this set: http://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Space-Marine-Legion-of-the-Damned-Squad

I think I like the pose better but havent been able to find any pics of different angles. Would either of these choices look the part or should I search elsewhere?

The sgt from the Legion of the Damned set is pretty boss IMO, the nice thing is it's cast as legs and torso (head as well sadly) so you can change up the arms and weps (though that ax arm is one of most dynamic parts). I personally used the two avian helmed models in the Damned Legionnaires as my jump pack chaplain and librarian, the bone colored helms really stand out so much.

I'd personally use the sergeant from the legion of the damned squad box (second option you listed).  Replace the power axe's head with a nice crozius replacement, and maybe change out the plasma pistol for whatever you want and you're done.

The first model only has the rib cage detailing on one half of the chest-- so unless you want to laboriously cover that up to make it a smooth chest plate or conversely use an engraver to make it a full ribcage, I'd recommend against that model.

I'm halfway through converting the sword guy to be a chaplain in one of my DIY's. I've gone the route of smoothing out the bone details on the chest, and it's not proving too difficult. I did think about replacing the sword with a crozius too, but it just looks too cool. Instead I will write a bit of fluff about it being a relic sword incorporating a concussion generator or some such to allow it to 'counts-as' a regular crozius, and hope for understanding opponents.
