Heavy Incinerator Question vs Armor

Quick question on how the Heavy Incinerator would work against vehicles. Say my opponent has a squadron of 3 Leman Russ all nicely lined up, since the heavy incinerator is torrent. can you position the template across all three tanks rear armor and essentially get 3 str. 6 hits on there rear. Or does the standard template rules apply and you have to hit against the side armor? The rules say blast and ordnance work that way but its not defined for flamer templates really.

thoughts?

You'd need to get into the rear 45 degree arc to claim you're hitting the AV10 facing. That's true for all weapons except Barrage, where the attack is considered to start from the centre of where the blast marker lands.

Psycannon is better in every way dude, you should be taking it by default. Heavy incinerator is for anti-infantry only, it rarely does damage even to AV10 targets.

Thanks for all the reply's to clarify my thoughts on strategy..

My opponent usually takes 3 leman with pask and punisher cannons, my hope to counter them was to shunt behind them with 2 DK's with psycannons and heavy incinerators. Since I am shunting I wont be able to assault them. so I was hoping to get a chance a few more hull points so that I would only be leaving 1 leman russ left to deal with.

Gonna be difficult, they're usually parked in a corner with camo-netting IME. Dreadknights will kill them in melee anyway, probably just focus on Pask's tank with your shooting (his Rending Punisher cannon is the threat). Be glad he's not taking the Executioner, the large blast Blind attack he can do is insane.
