The Hexfleet Dirty 1,000: Mean & Green under 1k army!

So with recently noticing in another thread that Vraks zombies are unlimited and not 0-1, it made me re-think what I can do with my collection of models a bit, and let me tweak some lists that I was already polishing.

Soon my area will have a team tournament: 2v2 with 1,000 points per player, each player limited to 1 Faction.

I have therefore come up with this list, which is 999 points, that I think is extremely strong for the points:

Unending Host Detachment (Vraksian Renegades and Heretics) [Primary Detachment]

HQ

Renegade Command Squad: 1x Arch Demagogue (Master of the Horde Devotion, Covenant of Nurgle), 4x Disciples, lasguns

Troops

Renegade Platoon: 45x Renegades

  • #1 Platoon Command: 15x Renegades, frag grenades, lasguns, 3 flamers
  • #2 Renegade Squad: 15x Renegades, frag grenades, lasguns, 3 flamers
  • #3 Renegade Squad: 15x Renegades, frag grenades, lasguns, 3 flamers

Renegade Platoon: 45x Renegades

  • #4 Platoon Command: 15x Renegades, frag grenades, lasguns, 3 flamers
  • #5 Renegade Squad: 15x Renegades, frag grenades, lasguns, 3 flamers
  • #6 Renegade Squad: 15x Renegades, frag grenades, lasguns, 3 flamers

10x Plague Zombie Mob

10x Plague Zombie Mob

Heavy Support

Renegade Rapier Laser Destroyer Battery: 3x Rapiers, 5x crew, weapons training

Combined Arms Detachment (Vraksian Renegades and Heretics)

HQ

Renegade Command Squad: 1x Arch Demagogue, 4x Disciples, laspistols, close combat weapons

Troops

Renegade Rapier Laser Destroyer Battery: 3x Rapiers, 6x crew, weapons training

Renegade Strike Battery: 3x Renegade Wyverns, 3 heavy flamers

It can't hit air vehicles and having to leave the krak grenades off my 90 platoon soldiers is rough, but boy does this army pack a lot of punch at under 1,000 points! It has 90 soldiers with 18 flamers that are recycled after destruction on a 2+, and then can outflank when they come back on next turn. On top of that it has 40 fearless 4+ FNP zombies, 9 rapier shots for anti-armor, and 3 wyverns for anti-troops.

It's nasty but it depends on the enemy and how quickly they can kill your rapiers (and most armies should find that fairly tough), and then how survivable/swift their scoring units are.

I think some Eldar/Dark Eldar armies could take this on, but many others will struggle. If they take tough transports (Land Raiders) they will get nuked by the rapiers: if they take anything else they risk being swarmed.

As someone who has started an Endless Swarm (Tyranids) army this makes me sad. I only come back on a 4+... and I can re-roll that if I take a formation that is (I think) nearly 3,000pts when just the minimum requirements are taken...

It's hard to believe this fits in 999 points. I love it. Make sure you keep us updated on how you're doing over the tournament.

My only concern would be that it's perhaps not a very fun army to play against? I mean, it depends on what you're doing with it on the battlefield, but in a 2-on-2 game – with only 1000 points each – having somebody pushing 150 or so models around can be, well ... how to say it? It requires some resilience on your opponents' side.

Anyway. I love it. Keep us in the loop.

This list is brutal, but slow.  You may have trouble with objective grabbing when you get unlucky with outflank.

Fliers shouldn't be too common in 1k pts, but you could always squeeze in a quad gun for your arch-demagogue.

Good luck, post pictures!

I am writing the list for my partner's Ultramarines in the 2v2 as well, so I gave him 2 Thunderfires and then 3 objective-secured drop pods fill with 29 tactical marines and a chapter master with 2+/3++, EW, and a thunder hammer :-)

They have to pick between dealing with the 130 models coming right at them across the board, and dealing with the 20-30 marines dropping in on top of their deployment zone. Any of my stuff that gets wiped out can try to move to assist the marines with the outflank + roll 2d6-pick-highest run move.

And the 2 TFCs on top of 3 wyverns should do work...
