Ravenwing Black Knights with Interrogator-Chaplain

I have found them to be quite effective against MEQ and light vehicles, especially if you give the Chaplain the mace. Almost to good in some cases, as there is a good chance, with shooting and assault, of wiping a unit out and being left in the open for retaliation. I also find the apothecary is usually a good points investment, even though he loses an attack.

I must say; i think its a very nasty unit to deploy.  Personally I use the RW Cmd squad alternative as the IC on bike unlocks them, saving a Fast attack slot for more BK's!!!  :)

Its fast, hard hitting and the Nades allow you to threaten more than your opponent may have expected.  I load up the IC with the Mace and Crozius giving him +1 attack for 2 weapons of the same type.  The bike carries his shooty bits so no need for the bolt pistol.

Do you mean this in a different way than the +1 attack a model gets for having two close combat weapons?  If so, could you please point me to this rule?

A model with a bolt pistol and a crozius or a bolt pistol and a MoR gets the +1 Attack, same as a model with a crozius and an MoR.  Either I'm misunderstanding you or you may be confusing this with something like the Specialist Weapon rule.

Indeed.  I was thinking the same thing, especially since the MoR is superior to a Crozius in every aspect, so I cannot imagine using either of the other choices for any of the attacks.

Much easier to have a holstered bolt pistol on the model than to try and pose him with two big honkin' clubs while driving a bike. :)

No problem - that was what I figured.  So, best practice would be to replace the Crozius with the Mace of Redemption (S7 AP3 at I4), but would there ever be a time where, say, a plasma pistol would be used instead of the bike's boltguns?  Or would that just be a waste of points?

I've found that plasma pistols are actually a tonne better on mobile platforms like bikers and jumpers due to their short range, they are lucky if they are a one use wonder on Tacticals Sgts etc but aren't bad at all for hurting tougher opponents before the charge on guys who can use them multiple times each game. Got spare points? Take one. You would have lost a couple of Talon shots by taking a grenade launcher so another S7 AP2 shot is alway welcome. IMHO, YMMV :D

I'm assembling parts to kitbash a chaplain biker - the Seraphicus model won't really do, as the backpack and cape are molded onto the back of the body.  The helmet is really the only part I'd use.

I've got an old metal chaplain biker I've not yet assembled, but it looks like I might have to use something else - maybe acquire a Reclusiam chaplain sprue or something?  I know it's veering a little away from the topic, but does anyone have any ideas?

I cut down a finecast version of Asmodai, as I had a spare set of robed bike legs to blend his robe into with a little green stuff (haven't got to that point yet).

I cut at the red line with small clippers, then trimmed with a hobby knife to the blue line.

(yes, I found a mispackaged version with 2 body sprues and no weapons sprues. Didn't need the weapons and felt more comfortable with a backup that didn't cost me any more money)

(edit: added pics)

I may have to try that - I know our local store has a few of them in stock.  I have a spare pair of robed biker legs I got off eBay for this purpose.

I was hoping to find plastic parts because I want to model him with a Mace (present on the lovely DA upgrade sprue) and the less I have to cut, the better. :)

Here's my one I kit bashed one a while back, might help with the ideas:

Edit: to fix links

Actually the Seraphicus model works quite well.

I cut the cape down and green stuffed it into a pair of robed legs, just need to paint it.

I'll put pictures up when I get home.

Thanks, everyone.  This gives me a lot of great ideas for a Chaplain biker conversion.  I probably won't attempt it until I've finished painting my box army (at least the Deathwing and "Greenwing" parts) but when I'm ready I have a lot of options after all.

So, out of the old Chaplain Biker kit I had, the only metal piece I kept was the fairing with wings and a skull - and mounting the bolters through it was a pain.  The metal Chaplain itself was useless to me and the bike accessories were mundane.  But thanks to a variety of bits from the Veterans sprue, Ravenwing parts and my usual dive into the Sternguard and Command boxes for characters, I was able to assemble a pretty good Interrogator Chaplain with robes and the Mace - and topped him off with Seraphicus' helmet.  And the bike itself looks a little more "sanctified" than usual.  I'll post pics some time soon, but won't get around to painting it for a while I'm sure.
