Hesh Kadesh
Well, I've been boxing up all of my things earlier tonight as I'm due to be moving next week, and I've catalogued my entire model collection (all the colour grey). It's going to be the last I can game with them for a few months until things settle down, but I thought I'd post what I have which is useable for my Alpha Legion army; plus a few extras I want to buy to finish them off when I get settled; namely the fire raptors. The Solar Auxilia stuff is not the actual Solar Auxilia, it's just count as Guard/Astra Militarum at the minute. I've yet to get ANY vehicles for them; mainly because they're Elysian based in 40K. Because of how transports and allies work, especially with the Alpha Legion, I can't really do "Air Cav" Guard yet; no those Arvus Lighters do not count, but I still love the use of the Vultures, and they're too fun not to use; there's nothing like throwing 20 BS4 TL'd S5 shots at something. Throw on Tank Hunters, Deep Strike and Nuncio Voxes, and they can quite reliably strip hull points from light vehicles or go ripping through units sat in cover (which won't massively dent the effectiveness of the cannons due to AP- not being blocked by cover) It is also not a lot of men; 11 Terminators, 5 Castellax, 3 Dreadnoughts, 81 Power Armour Marines; there are 6 Flyers, 12 Dreadnoughts, however, and doesn't include the Solar Auxilia which outnumber the Legion but cost half as much. The general basis of the army is a latter stages force waiting to strike behind the enemy lines on Terra (maybe) once the walls are brought down; hence the allies with their trench lines representing this. I can't take Legion Allies, but I can take Solar Auxilia; with a combination of stupidly good lasguns (even though S3, 80 Heavy 2 36" Range Lasguns can quite readily do a decent bit of damage) while protected by the Defence lines. The Dracosans move forward pounding the enemy with their Demolisher Cannons, aiming for units with Apothecaries or Terminators if possible under the cover of the Leman Russ now that the walls are down; loaded with Flamer Sections. As the lines close, this is when the Alpha Legion Strike. First things down are Dynat, joined to the Headhunters, a Recon Squad which sits pretty behind the Solar Auxilia's Aegis lines and mans the Comms Relay (to ensure that it doesn't fall foul of the stupid 30K allies rules for "Black" rated allies and Quad Gun to protect against incoming aerial attacks, and then, usually, the three Dreadnoughts, and a Vet Squad to get some more AA cover down first turn, preferably in a place where they can make a nuisance of themselves; but more importantly, leave their Nuncio within teleporting range to allow the Deep Strikers next turn something juicy. The Dreadnoughts are insanely good; they're firing 6 BS5 Tank Hunting Haywire Blasts between them. That's a dead Typhon or Spartan, first turn bar Snake Eyes with a reroll, or even a heavily damaged other Super Heavy. The following turn, I put my Nuncio Voxes to great use; the Terminators Come on down (reroll with the Comms Relay up), and unleash hell with their tank hunting combi-meltas; even against AV12 Armoured Ceramite, I have a 75% chance of causing a glance, 55% of penetrating; which at AP1, and with the help of "The Harrowing" from Dynat means I have a +3 to damage rolls. So too come down the melta squad, and do similar. The Praevian is a bit of an odd one; he and the Castellax form a single unit; but there's a wierd rules interaction when a unit has more than one unit type over its different models in that's not addressed; Dynat allows a unit of Infantry to Deep Strike; well, it's a Praevian who is infantry; and he's allowed by Dynat, to which the Castellax get dragged along as they're still the same unit. --Will update tomorrow-- Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304589-alpha-legionallies-heshs-collection-6-9k/ Share on other sites
shaun03
Nice collection 30k you got, Obviously with 6k in points you got a lot going on, but you got a good setup and plan for them. Tank hunter will help you beat back agsint super heavies, and I am fan of mass fliers cas dropping down the hate works wonders. My main question is do you know which legion your up agsint? At 6k point range you are kinda light on guys, but if your playing 9k and bring in grand daddy guard you should do well, I haven't read book 4 yet so i can't speak on guard aspect of the list. But in straight up legion fight, you will fair agsint NL, and RG , WE and WB. I can see them struggling deal with all the pods and string about the table, but DG foot slogging with arty support and Chem fury might hurt if they able to box you in with crawling fire cutting off you units and dealing one pod at time. But :cuss it drop in close and take away there willy pete. IF dont know much about them no one plays by me. IH can dish out the pain but again static gun lines don't like drop pods. Sally are rough call if you pods land to close you eatting heavy flamers all day, but at right distance you can kill them before they start the BBQ. Other than mass firepower and avoidance how do you plan deal with primachs?
