Looking for Good Youtube Battle reports

Greetings wolf brothers!

I was hoping we could help each other to find battle reports on youtube, space wolfs of course, thats actually worth looking.

All to often you get disapointed on unpainted models, shoddy terrain or other disapointments.

But what of the Really inspiring battle reports?

Those with great minis, terrains and narrative? Those battle reports that makes a worthy saga?

Anybody got any links to share?

- Keep those mead horns filled and your axes sharp! Take care!!

My favourite Batreps are from MiniWargaming (MWG Batreps). They make a lot of mistakes and play casually, but there is a lot of banter, all armies are painted, terrain is awesome and they show every move and every dice roll, not just end of turn results. That is how I learned 40k back in the days. Again, now I see all the mistakes they are doing, but you get a really good feel of the game flow and you get a few laughs while you are at it.

MWG is hilarious good for a laugh and for some fun games I tend to avoid competitive players BatReps because they and for more about outcome that the game... If all I wanted was an outcome I'd just throw data into a computer and walk away. Just my two cents

a channel i found is SG Tactics. they seem to play rather competitive lists. but as a totally new player i can't judge the quality of the games. only that very little is explained and you can't really see the dice rools as it is filmed from birds eye view. but you see serpent spam, triptide and TWC deathstar as well as centstar and tauranids in there. at least there is some kind of summary at the end with interviews of the players.

What I usually do with youtube is a search for 'Space Wolves' and then set the filter for around a month. One issue I've in the past is getting started on a batrep and then figuring out they're playing 6th or older editions. MWG also does a good job of doing batreps with the latest codexes (codecies?) so that helps see a new army as well as the ongoing familiarization with 40k rules and SW specificis too. Otherwise I'd have learned the hard way that Necrons have a super heavy right in the codex. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Xenovids is also very enjoyable.

I've been watching a new group called 'The Basement Collective' too. Beautiful models.

Mark of Dave DRIVES ME NUTS THOUGH...

*Edited for clarity

SkaredCast is a local Canadian guy that I really like.

Striking Scorpion has the best looking games I think

Winters SEO has some awesome batreps too, and plays admech which you don't see a lot

I really dislike Miniwargaming, they are too silly, and often equate being loud to being funny.

I hate you all. smile.png

I just got sucked into yet another time sink. I did not know of MWG and I have to admit watching Dave play is great. Even though I am unaware of the mistakes so far since I have yet to look at 7e rules its fun to see.

Also his Space Wolves swift claws bikers look great. I love the lighting effect on the front wheel armor cowling.

For a group of people who get paid to play games, the guys a MWG should get a pay cut.

Strikingscorpion82 is my favorite. Cool camera angels and well done video.

Table Top Tactics is also a great channel.

End of Line

dave cant play space wolves to save his life ,  but he is trying , i like mini war gaming I also like striking scorpions  If you are a MWG  fan you should definitely get a vault membership tho , its cheap and it gives you  double the content

Well, its all new to me. I can't remember what edition I stopped playing in, 4e maybe? So I know the rules are way different and I was picking up on most of what they were doing and figuring out the rest. Of course I only watched two of the MWG batreps. Chaos (6 demon princes) vs. Tau (OMG the dice!) and the SW vs GK. The GK guy was getting on my nerves in the end and would be one of those people I probably would only enjoy playing if I trounced them. At this stage in my gaming life its about the game, not the win.

That aside, I really am glad Silwerulv made this post.

I watch SG Tactics, very competative options but straight forward and sometimes rather boring. Skaredcast is amazing and Skari is an amazing player and great to watch but plays limited armies. Lastly most most recent one is Tabletop Tactics, amazing production value, Lawrence and co do a great job, only issue is some content is subscriber only but free trial for a week or two if u just want to check out old stuff. Free stuff is just as good, his list analysises are great too. I don't care much for mini wargaming and scorpion is hit or miss.....-my 2 cents

MWG is always my suggestion.  Just suggested to our newest player to our scene.  They do make mistake on specific army rules, since they play so many, but largely, not always, but largely, they get the core rules right.

Strikingscorpion was neat for a couple bat reps.  He gives good angles.  But it's too much post round explanations, and his in between quote cuts are so allfather be damned annoying.

Besides the batreps, I also like that they review codices when they come out and break it down, so you can get an idea of what each unit can do and how they were different to last codex.

The painting tutorials are good too. So for me MWG has almost all bases covered.

Dave runs Chaos, Blood Angels and Space Wolves I believe, whereas Matt plays Necron and Tyranids. Ash I also believe has a Space Wolves Army.

MWG is a yin/yang channel for me. The banter is sometimes funny but is constantly over shadowed by the lack of rules knowledge, and the serious games are rife with smug attitudes and rules lawyering. It's purely personal taste, I am only voicing my opinion.

Miniwargamer Jay has great codex reviews and painting tips, but it not a SW specific channel.

End of Line

@RPR: I would suggest you do not watch the banter bat reps, as it sounds like you are watchng Dave in those. He can be annoying sometimes as he gets a bit loud and he does struggle with the rules sometimes, he is on the whle thougha decent guy and like a lot of us still picking things up rulewise and gamewise. (If he talks about chicken wings in a bat rep again!!)

I suggest you watch Steves bat reps and also especially the narrative campaign bat reps run by Matt.

Matt doesn't run Space Wolves but he is pretty knowledgeable about the armies he uses, which is good in a way as it allows us to see the xenos strengths and weaknesses.

I noticed Steve has his own show now, and especially the first couple of episodes, though his opponent talked to a lot, was very very detail oriented, and by the book on the rules.  Dave's banter batreps used to come with a preface, this is a fun, silly game, and we rules will sometimes be sacrificed to the silly fun.  He probably should go back to adding that back in before they start, just so people know what's up.  And definitely don't use the campaign videos, since they are making up rules on the fly to make the narrative better (a lot of fun to watch though if you aren't trying to learn the game!)
