Where are the HH Novels?

Excluding the "novellas", which are kind of like snacks between meals, there haven't been any new HH novels in a while.

What's the deal? Is there just more money in releasing short stories/novellas and Audio Dramas?

Is it just my perception or are they taking a long time to get the newest full installment out?

Ironclad was technically a novel, although limited. The last one before that I think was Vengeful Spirit and I know there's some audios coming out regarding Raven Guard and Space Wolves. I think we're at a turning point in the series atm, Vengeful Spirit was a critical point for Horus's character, so now we're into the next stage of the Heresy, the battles should be closer to Terra now.

After VS there was Damnation of Pythos and then Legacies of Betrayal.

Who do I need to backstab to get some good Dark Angels Legion novels?

You need to wait in line behind Raven Guard and Blood Angels. And possibly others (Death Guard?)
The Death Guard already have a novel and have made pretty good steps at being heavily involved in two other novels that weren't even about them. The only Legions that don't have models are the Night Lords, the Iron Hands and the Imperial Fists. Arguably the Salamanders since Vulkan's wrath was more about Vulkan and Curze rather than their Legions.

It's just not been the same since they moved to the three book format.

They were always at the three book format. What has happened is the number of novellas, anthologies and eshorts are increasing in numbers every year so we're starting to finally realize just what kind of gap there has been in the novels.

Legacies of Betrayal is an anthology though.

I thought Damnation of Pythos was before VS, my bad.

Damnation of Pythos was kind of an Iron Hands book and the recent novella was Iron Hands centric. Salamanders kind of have Promethean Sun, although it's novella length.

Gav Thorpe. Abnett and ADB seem to do just fine writing the 1st Legion.

Lol novels not just cameos and shorts (though they were the best we've got).

The other two books were too early and more 40k like. Plus Gav made the Lion which made me want to put him in cell 42 and beat some sense into him to ask for forgiveness.

I just wish that with all the envy that ADB had for his buddy Eddies Dark Angels that he'd push Gav Thorpe out a window and write about them.

Unless Gav writes something on the level of AoD, but we've got that much chance as Nick Kyme learning how to make a book interesting.

Well apparently the success of and desire to work on the Talon of Horus series seen Master of Mankind be pushed back on ADBs schedule.

Graham McNeil started The Crimson King 3 months later than planned due to stuff and things so that isn't a period of time I see being eaten up so it will be later than planned.

Deathfire by Nick Kyne is I believe finished and Being printed but that is partly extrapolation from a number of comments. The cover was being shown off at the BL weekender in November so that would add into the idea that it's not far off release.

Gav has talked about being close to finishing a HH story though I have no idea if this is a short, novella or novel.

The same goes for the fact Chris Wraight has talked about writing in the HH sphere.

Beyond that it's all fuzzy. Dan Abnett has expressed a desire to write a Dark Angels novel but who knows what's been planned and how much time he can give as he appears to be pretty popular with the comics and even computer games recently. Can't imagine why ;-)

Hmm, if its like Vulkan Lives is might be ok, although Numeo went down far to easily. Still not sure that I like Kyme's style.

I believe he said that he won't now that Gav expressed a desire to make one....
