Grot themed LatD... hear me out.

So this idea has been kicking around my head for a good while, after I've seen the rather popular 'grot rebellion'. However, this didn't quite fit as IG just seemed too organised and, generally, shooty.

As luck would have it, this seed of an idea got lodged in my head, and refused to leave. Ideas of how to make a lot of pseudo-feral Grot models came, along with how to make transport out of those spider-things... But as I was thinking of how to use the fantasy goblin kits, the idea hit me.

If one was to follow me loosely, one would find that I play with Renegades and heretics, with the fact that the example shown uses the IG codex, I decided to work with the idea that these grots would simple use numbers to overwhelm the enemy.. and dare i say, lead my a master of the horde in a uncountable host?

While as a fluff gamer, this has presented a challenge to tie this into the 40k universe without too many hiccups, but to little avail. As much as I would love to make a simple, elegant answer of "they're just grots that live on their own" has too many weak spots to have holes punched through. An idea of having them a forgotten project of a Daemon prince/lesser god could be a little more interesting, but we have one of Those guys at our gaming club that has a (obviusly non-heretical) hard-on for hating chaos.

and then the Last point i'd like to touch on would be the different model use... let me explain. As many in this sub forum are aware, R&H use different type of infantry that use (roughly) the same models: Mutants, renegades with militia and armor and those without to name an example.

The idea was to use night goblins (link for the lazy) as the ones in the platoons: the bows and simple knives with slings as those without militia training and converted guns to represent the ones that can hit a barn door (put them all on round bases, of course).

I know that Bolter and chainsword (for reasons that have never been explained to me) exempts Xenos from the subjects, But here is the thing, I am a chaos player and most other forums such as [insert generic 40k/wargaming forum] tend to have a more distant community...

so this Thread is two fold.

  1. Thoughts?
  2. would there be issues for discussing this counts as army on Bolter and chain sword?

Where most gamers would be Ok with this, and many would even encourage and commend the sheer mountain I would have to climb, I feel I have to approach this with caution... but on the flip side, I never heard of anyone doing this with R&H, and that has to be explored, right?

I say its a perfect fit.  You may wish to ask the mode for permission to post your army, but you should be ok.

Idea wise, i say spawns=squigs, and giant chaos spawn can be that huge forgeworld squigs, just add some bombs.  This army should be fine.

A large part would depend on whether the minis have a Chaos look to them and what rules you would be using. If it's the Ork Codex then it falls under the "no Xenos" rules but please feel free to send a private message with details and a few pics to myself, Insane Psychopath, and Tenebris. Cheers :tu:
Definatey do it. I have a grot force which is my Renegades list based around them being the little nutters who man the forges which build the many chaps engines of war for my armies. I used the common goblin models with catachan arms and lasguns and painted them purple to keep them distinct from orky ones.
