SW1
Been looking at the pretty shiny things in the codex and got to wondering if the 3 sets of weapons that come with the new Ogryn kit could be used. Then I spotted the box of 6 ogres in the GWS store for less £'s than the Ogryn kit. So the question is ... Is it possible/easy to combine the 2 kits to get 9 Ogryns for less than the price of 6? SW1
Lol ... Why am I even considering this? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304946-modelling-question-regarding-ogryns/#findComment-3983647 Share on other sites
elmo
This is what I will be shortly working on. I already have the models (bullgryns and fantasy ogres). The plan is 3 bullgryns with slab shields, 3 ogryns with maul and shield and 3 ogryns with ripper guns. I think it will need some substantial chopping and greenstuff but I am keeping my fingers crossed ;) Just need the time now... WarriorFish
The arms of the Ogryns are directly tied to the bodies, so there is sadly little variety in how they work so as elmo said it'll be quite a bit of work to combine them. You'd certainly end up with great variety in Ogryns for it though! My recommendation would be to use the proper kit for Bullgryns as they'd be a lot more work otherwise, plus it seems more fitting for the standard Ogryns to be more characterful in appearances :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304946-modelling-question-regarding-ogryns/#findComment-3983671 Share on other sites
elmo
I will start playing with the builds in a week or so and let you know how it works out... Guess that is the next project sorted out then :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304946-modelling-question-regarding-ogryns/#findComment-3983690 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Heresy grows with idleness ;) Looking forward to seeing the chocochip Ogryns :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304946-modelling-question-regarding-ogryns/#findComment-3983706 Share on other sites
SW1
I was toying with the idea as I'm contemplating what to do for the ETL this year. Don't think I'll be getting all these guard cleaned up in time for this years ETL. The big points are tied up with my tanks that need a really good clean up. WarriorFish
Tanks are great. Not only because they're tanks but they're also a fair chunk of points for ETL :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304946-modelling-question-regarding-ogryns/#findComment-3984045 Share on other sites
elmo
May be worth starting a forum ETL prep thread ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304946-modelling-question-regarding-ogryns/#findComment-3984049 Share on other sites
SW1
May be worth starting a forum ETL prep thread ;) What a good idea ... http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304966-forewarned-is-forearmed-the-etl-is-a-coming/ My phone is playing up so not been able to stick tags on it. Can one of the commissars sort that out for me? ;) I'll have to see what I can do on the tank front. captain sox
I just built 3 Bullgryns, and its kinda blah how they aren't easy to customize. It's like most of the new kits GW are releasing. They are great molds, and great kits, but just really only one way to build them (Scion Plasma / Banner guys I'm looking at you) will be a lot of work / cost to make them all unique. I'd give anything for a kneeling Scion Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304946-modelling-question-regarding-ogryns/#findComment-3984629 Share on other sites

Grotsmasha
Having looked at this option a few months back I can tell you with a little shaving around the torso (front and back) and some green stuff gapfill for the hole in the gut, the armour plates can be made to fit the Ogres, some of the Ogryn arms also (reasonably) fit the Ogre torso's. Here we go, found the old thread/pics, Here's those pics I didn't get around to yesterday. So with a bit a trimming the armour can be made to fit the Ogre bodies. IMO if you do go down this route, you will need the Ogres to be wearing the armour due to the gut plate. Also, the Ogryn arms do fit (not perfectly, but the armour covers it). So as you can see some trimming around the gut plate both on the Ogre and armour was necessary to get a nice fit. All in, it took 5 mins to sort it out, fairly quick and straight forward.
