Does anybody here play 4+ Dreadknights competitively?

Where DE can be a problem is with MSU Spam - (venoms, jetbikes).  Many times putting out 10-20 poison shots per unit, and you might have 10+ units to contend with...the mathammer starts to catch up with you even with 5DKs.  They can focus fire on you, and you don't have enough shooting / charges to reliably counter the strategy if your oppenent plays it well.   Plus, they can jink, and many times you've only got enough shots to force half their army to jink, leaving the other guys to open up on you the following turn.  The fact that they melt in CC can actually work in their favor as you don't end up locked in combat.

I'm a fan of purifiers - huge force multipliers against MSU...

Purifiers die Turn 1 to DE shooting. You need a delivery system, probably a Raven as DE only have their paper airplanes for AA.

Jink is only a 4+, heavy incinerator ignores it as well (it is insanely good against Eldar of all kinds). Anyway, you can use 'Perfect Timing' on your infantry psycannons, and you should be focusing down the Ravagers Turn 1 after alpha-striking their skimmer wall. The Ravagers have to die, then the Blasterborn. Otherwise you eat like 15+ lance shots per turn.

DE are a pretty tough opponent, but at least we get invuls against their lance and 2+ saves against their poison spam. It's better than a lot of other Marine armies. Also, no one has anything like DK's in their roster. That's a big plus, DE have no way to deal with a DK once it hits melee.

Honestly in my weekly games, I don't think I would bring 4+ DK's... and again, with Maelstrom I'm not entirely convinced one way or the other, that it would actually be the smartest move.

But one thing this conversation does make me wonder is what I will do at 1850 once I'm done with the campaign games (which are 1K).

In 1K I am using 2 DK's. So it's not a stretch to say at 1850 I could use 3, and still stay in a vanilla force org or the Formation. It doesn't feel excessive at 1K to have 2. I think this might be offset by only having 14 total models on the table at 1K. lol

Oh yeah, stick with two for now. But scale up to it, see if it suits your meta.
