vahouth
Here's a thought though: if GW intended it to be a mask, why doesn't Astorath wear the Death Mask equipment?Maybe it's just his ceremonial mask and not a death mask so doesn't do anything. Maybe the next codex could have a use for it...:\Besides there's already another example of a unit tha wears a useless mask in BA...Furioso Librarian. Nicodemus Doloroso
Tycho's mask doesn't do anything rules-wise either. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305180-is-astorath-wearing-a-mask/page/2/#findComment-3996048 Share on other sites
Vel'Cona
Good point. TBH, I feel that's one of the biggest fails in C:BA, as I always pictured Tycho's Rictus Mask as something of a chapter artifact, in itself. Should have at least been a relic or something. Arkangilos
I don't know, it's just there to cover up his hideous wounds. You "could" say, that's what gives him preffered enemy Orks? The wounds itself, and his hatred of Orks plus his time he spent formulating revenge against them is what gives him that :p The mask is really no more than a plate he used to to make himself look close to pretty again. And that stung him, deep. He hated the imperfection that was forced onto him, and so he wanted to kill all Orks, hence the preferred enemy. You know, sometimes when I type, I feel like I type really redundantly, because I end up saying the same thing twice, in two different ways, in the exact same post. I feel like that's a problem I have. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305180-is-astorath-wearing-a-mask/page/2/#findComment-3996856 Share on other sites

SnorriSnorrison
I always thought that Astorath is a Chaplain, and therefore he's wearing a ceremonial deathmask like all chaplains do. Unless that he's High Chaplain, and apparently can choose to not wear a totally badass skull helmet. To each his own, I guess. SnorriEdit for spelling.
