I haven't used a hydra yet (I'm just getting started with IG), but I hear that they work wonderfully. Still though, respect losers? Bah! They lost, no medals for participation! Chefzilla Posted April 2, 2015 Author Share Posted April 2, 2015 Ulrik, I'm not a fan of the Hydra. I'd rather just take the quad gun on the Aegis Defense Line and use the Wyvren. As for Russian armor. All I have to say is this The T72-T90 series all weigh 32 tonnes. The Abrams weighs 72 tonnes. That's a huge disparity and most of that weight is in armor. Ulrik_Ironfist Posted April 2, 2015 Share Posted April 2, 2015 I have the ADL and quad gun, but I don't like how that forces parts of my army to be static, the hydra seems like a good compromise between mobility and air defense. As for Armor, the M1's record speaks for itself, now, I'm not a tanker, I'll admit I don't know the first thing about what makes a good tank, I do know what makes a good Airplane/Helo, since that was my main concern while I was in. I think that having some solid air defense (whether it comes from other aircraft, or a platform like the hydra) is essential in a flyer heavy edition, and especially a flyer heavy meta (like mine). Felt pretty awesome to squish a deamon with a tank. Finally killed my first Daemon Prince. Hallhammer cannon but what the hell? I think I'm going to just take more vendettas... Look no further: That does look the part. ...especially when fliers tend to cap at AV12, a S9 AP2 "gonna hit at least once" AV14 skyfire AP2 weapon is...good. I mean, sure, you're going to get a stunned/shaken result (if you pen) half the time, but at least it's dramatically more effective than almost any alternative. Only BS4 fliers with melta are the one more-effective alternative, but the quad-las VWB is insanely more efficient than even those...after all, you can get three of these for the cost of one stormraven...
