rye0006
I have done various bits to my crusade over the previous months, but not posted anything as I've been having camera issues. Anyway, here are a couple of vanguard sword brethren with dual chainswords that I kit bashed yesterday. They'll be next up on the painting table along with a couple of our sword brethren models. I have also finished (bar applying decals) my 2nd stormtalon helicopter conversion. Sword Brother Adelard
I've always wanted to make my StormTalon look like an Orca from Command and Conquer, someone has done a conversion of this online, but I don't think it works.: http://gravengames.co.uk/project-storm-orca/The issue for me is that round rotors don't look right on an imperial vehicle, the Imperium aren't renowned for their love of circles! rye0006
I've had an idea to make a standard bearer (now chapter ancient apparently!) for the Domus Crusade for ages, but didn't have the parts to complete it. Well I haven't bought any models for around 6 months, so I thought I'd treat myself to buying the bits. So, I've been tinkering around this afternoon kitbashing... The head will be a helmetless stern-faced one, suitably grim. The thing I can't decide is what to do with the left arm - should he be pointing, firing a bolt pistol, firing a bolter, etc. I need some advice here, what do you think? Brother Christopher
Nice kitbash. The only thing I'm not a fan of us the hourglass. As for the left arm, I vote for a bolter. Aegir_Einarsson
I think firing bolt pistol would be best option:) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305274-the-domus-crusade/page/3/#findComment-4966391 Share on other sites
Marshal Wolfhart
I actually dislike the two spikes pointing downwards on the "halo" on top, reminds me too much of chaos. And the twin tailed hammer on the backside of the standard would make a nice spot for a plain maltese cross... Otherwise a nice idea and i really like the portable relique, because what else would a crusader bring? :tu: Edited December 22, 2017 by Marshal Wolfhart Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305274-the-domus-crusade/page/3/#findComment-4966463 Share on other sites
Bjorn Firewalker
The standard looks great, but what is it? The skeleton of an Emperor's Champion who gave his life so Imperial forces may claim victory, now mounted and displayed so even in death, he may continue encouraging Black Templars and Imperial allies to greater feats of valor? rye0006
Decided to convert a terminator chaplain using the hq model from the Calth box set. I know it's the wrong firm of terminator armour, but I don't care - rule of cool. What do you guys think? Marshal_Roujakis
imho, terminator armor is terminator armor... even if he is on Cataphractii TDA, rule of cool trumps over basic principle of rules... rye0006
The Chaplain looks promising. Is the weapon scratchbuilt? It's the power axe from the Templars upgrade kit. I just cut off the axe head and glued on the cross piece from a different axe. Firepower
For the Ancient, I recommend his left hand be reverently holding a Holy Hand Grenade aloft. Let him be a walking testament to all that makes the Chapter mighty. ;) Bjorn Firewalker and Brother Carpenter 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305274-the-domus-crusade/page/3/#findComment-5024044 Share on other sites
rye0006
I know that it's slightly heretical for Templars, and I'm unlikely to field them very often in my Templars army (I'd intended to use them more with my inquisitors), but here are my sniper neophytes (minus some small decals for shoulder pads). I really don't like the sniper scout models, so I wanted something different - cue anvil industries. Really like these models and I enjoyed trying a camo pattern on their fatigues and armour. I wasn't originally going to paint them as Templars, but couldn't bring myself to paint another chapter. Bjorn Firewalker
The Neophyte snipers look great! I know that it's slightly heretical for Templars, and I'm unlikely to field them very often in my Templars army (I'd intended to use them more with my inquisitors), but here are my sniper neophytes (minus some small decals for shoulder pads). A proper Templar should focus on the ends instead of the means. Will sniping kill enemies of the Imperium? Will it corrupt the sons of Dorn and make them pawns of Chaos and/or xenos? If the answer to both questions is "no," then snipe away. rye0006
It's been so long since I last posted! And I haven't been doing any painting or modelling really in so long. Teaching and having a toddler aren't necessarily conducive to hobby time. I don't get to play very often at all either - once every couple of months, but I still love it when I get the chance.  I've got a can mid-Feb and have decided to take a very different list and use things I've not really tried in 8th. rye0006
2 quick builds from odd bits I had laying around - Neophyte sergeant ready to punch xenos/heretic face, and a sword brother because who doesn't like an angry Templar staring you down armed with lightning claws? librisrouge and Sword Brother Adelard 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305274-the-domus-crusade/page/3/#findComment-5466522 Share on other sites
Brother Christopher
It's great to see people still working on 'regular marines'. The Neophyte 'sarge' looks great. A real bad-. Also, the piece of detail on the SB's lightning claw seems interesting. It looks like an ornament from a power fist trimmed down to a shield or plate. Is it so? Also, the piece of detail on the SB's lightning claw seems interesting. It looks like an ornament from a power fist trimmed down to a shield or plate. Is it so? It's part of the crotch plate from the centurions kit. When I made my assault centurions I wanted loincloths so cut the crotch plate away. With this lightning claw, it's actually a wolf guard one and I cut away the wolf skull on the back and therefore wanted to cover up the mess. I though an ornamental shield in the back of the fist might look quite cool. rye0006
Starting work on a new project - a chaplain dreadnought. Love chaplains, love dreadnoughts, so what could be better than an awesome combination. I think I'm going to go to town on this model.
