ETL IV (Propaganda, motivation and preperation Thread)

I am currently at somewhat of an impasse, a day of a fevered work had left me with my ETL vow, a praetor, and time to build some vets to stand with him. Yet the work does not fit the XII legion as intended, he is more subtle, a knife in the dark, a leader of strike teams. He was built with the XXth Legion in mind but I feel the cold stare of the XIX Legion behind his helm. What to.

Hydra or Raven.

Villain or Hero.

Darkness wrapped in lies or light hidden in the dark.

I feel more comfortable painting the black of the Ravens then the indigo of the Hydra. I have never liked any scheme I have tried for the XXth.

They are the Legions I love the best, the ones which sing to soul the loudest. While I respect others, the horror of the VIIIth, the merciless IVth ,the machine Xth, and the bloodthirsty XIIth, none speak to me more then the youngest sons of the Emperor.

I think that's why I find it so hard honour them, my love for them makes it hard to please them.

I sit in my tireless vigil of the borders of Britannia, seeking an omen of the path to tred.

(Why I am talking like this morning is a mystery!!!)

When you say indigo, do you mean like these guys, that STC_Logisengine did on dakka?

I have been a fan of his work. He has a nice purple scheme to. Still undecided. When I get home I will work on the Praetor some more.

Yep thats for his 40K colour scheme with the fade to green. You were right, he never gave up his indigo colour, so I pm'd him about it.

Wonder if he'll respond. I think the indigo will look amazing with the green fade too.

If I wasnt so into the Vlka Fenryka, it would be Alpha's and Ravens..

According to the paint conversion chart I found, Kantor Blue is the gw equivalent to Necron Abyss

Also looking at the chart you can see what purples he might have used for his indigo too, or at least an approximation.

I've done nothing but build models for loyalty and treachery for the last months, but i think i'll paint them for the ETL instead.

Here's what i'm hoping to contribute:

Siege breaker

Legion champion

Master of signals

Centurion

Dreadnought talon (1 w/ multi-melta, 1 w/ two dccw, 1 w/ flamestorm cannon)

2 terminator squads (indomitus, 1 w/ combi-meltas and thunder hammers/chainfists, 1 w/ combi-plasmas and power weapons/lightning claws)

2 tactical squads

2 breacher siege squads with meltaguns

Land speeder squadron with multi-meltas and graviton guns.

Heavy support squad with heavy bolters

Heavy support squad with lascannons

I'm considering converting some jetbikes too. Sadly haven't got the funds for any tanks now :(

Go with the Raven Guard... After all they could just be Alpha's in disguise a la Deliverance Lost.

Or the AL's black color scheme, in their "Left Hand of Darkness" identity. A title that, if I remember correctly, was also used when referring to the Raven Guard. So you could play on that.

Personally considering a second consul of some sort (or maybe just a vanilla centurion), but am getting pretty low on marine bits. If I do find the bits, he'll probably be either a Death Guard or an Iron Warrior, to tie in with things I really should write.

Picking a nemesis legion is hard! I dont radically dislike any of the 18, someome pick a legion for me?

I agree with Dantay_xv. Everyone has to have a minimum of resentment towards the 3rd legion, EVEN THEIR OWN!

A nemesis Legion against the VIII? Blood Angel Legion, hands down. The sons of the Angel, I felt, have always been a stunning counter-point to midnight clad. Ask Malcharion, he knows.

I find trying to get a consistent red that is well defined to be equally (if not a little more) difficult than purple, and is far less forgiving of mistakes. Plus, the two Legions' cultures, heraldry, and views of the galaxy are so diametrically opposed as to be mirror opposites.

It might be true that the EC of the 41st millenium have a small fan-base and are generally disliked, but the Pre-Heresy Legion of the 31st has a massive, rabid fan base that cannot be discounted. *waves at kizzdougs and Captain Semper*

Leave the 40k views at the door. The III Legion of old were kings of war, Lord Commander Vespasian was the embodiement of everything noble of the Astartes, and Lucius was.... ok, Lucius was still a jerk, but at least he wasn't totally freaky yet.  :P
