I have 3rd legion corpses on my deredeo and sevatar, so I wouldn't want the guy standing there fearing for his resin/plastic. BA is a good idea, i haven't painted red armour for a good while, and even then I wasn't going for it. Hyaenidae has it, a BA captain it shall be for my second vow. Thanks for the input guys!

I think BA is a good call to to go opposite the Night Lords. The other choice is Raven Guard who are sort of the inverse of the Night Lords, similar (not the same, but similar) tactics, have the same dark nature but have locked it down, where the Night Lords harnes it. Aesthetically though the black armour is to similar.

The red of the Blood Angels, the artificer armour, the very image of a pure angel, as opposed to the symbols of death and the fallen angel nature of the Night Lords will be more satisfying feast for the eyes.

I find reds much easier than purple.

As for my 40K views, 40K 3rd legion would probably generally be described as depraved maybe...

My opinion is more based around the likes of Eidolon in 30K.

The Emperors Children were indeed Kings of war and were the only ones to to be allowed to wear the Emperors Aquila. However as the crusade continued their constant striving for perfection manifested itself in many of the 3rd Legion as arrogance, self centred, aloof as written in the books.

I did generalise and I am sure there are many written characters within the 3rd Legion who were not like Eidolon. Saul Tarvitz would be a prime example, the Ancient Rylanor another.

Eidolons assault on the Planet of Murder and his subsequent "reinforcement" by Torgadden of the 16th Legion.

How Kizzdoug, and Captain Semper wish to portray the Emperors Children and from which period of the crusade, whether they view their armies as keeping to the original spirit and martial ideals of the 3rd Legion or prefer taking them down a darker path is for them to decide.

Anyhoo, Yes Blood Angels would also be a good counter point, just as would be the Salamanders due to their compassion which Night Lords see as a weakness (Vulkan lives) or the Imperial Fists. The 3rd Legion because of Fulgrims betrayal of Curze to Dorn, about Curze's visions..Or even one of the Space Wolves sent out as one of the Watch packs, which Curze then disposed of. happy.png

Though they might not be worth any points value in games to be able to be quantified for the challenge...I'd like to declare a gauntlet thrown

I, Depthcharge, of the honored First Legion and the Void Claws Chapter, challenge Athrawes, of the damnable Second Legion, to create three, thematic objective markers for the upcoming ETL IV event. As your challenger, I too shall pledge three objective markers to be made and painted (see, we both have three made for 6 total for Maelstrom Mission games now ;)) by the end of the event.

With my fellow fraters in witness I do so challenge thee. Rejecting shall bring your legion eternal shame, which they shall feel in their last moments before their planet is destroyed in its entirety.

The gauntlet is thrown, the sounds of war approach.

As part of my upcoming ETL pledge I am doing a squad of 10 Breachers, however as these will be Fenryka Breachers. Do I make round shields, like a traditional viking shield wall for them?

Or do I stick to standard breacher shields?

If I do circular shields, same size as I did for my cataphracts, or do I go bigger?

Help or advice would be greatly received

The Viking shield wall doesn't really translate well to what the breachers do. On one hand, the round shields are certainly cool and very flavorful, but on the other, they don't really fill the same role as the breacher shields.

Thanks for the feedback guys :)

I'll start looking into doing kite shields. Woll get some plasticard when I get back to the beach, but for now I can cut some card for ideas of sizes.

I think partly why I wasn't sure about shields is if the handle was centrally located then the shields would cover the face and leave the legs exposed, unless I tried putting the shield handle closer to the top like this:

But then it might look a little goofy. Kite shields might be the best option..

I also quite fancy having a go at repositioning the hands and arms so they can be in a brace position, A few with spears held horizontal , 1 or 2 similar with swords and and again a few with axes, each with his bolter maglocked. Maybe give the Sargeant a big double handed axe with a shield slung across his back... Sound like a plan??
