2000pts Armoured Spearhead

Basically, I want to start playing 30k and im looking at the most cost effective way to do it while at the same time having a list that somewhat interests me as well. I plan on proxying my 40k tac marines and rhinos for the troop choices (or at least until plastic 30k marines get released). I already have the Sicaran, so all in all its going to cost me a little over £300 to start running this list. I'm just wondering if its half way decent as far as 30k games go, or should I tweak it some more?

That is a GOOD list actually, I am impressed

 

BUT, change the termi's gear, the autocannon will be of no use, change it for another plamsa blaster.

Away from my books right now - but I think the key question here is, what do you gain from armoured spearhead?

 

I think the benefits are pretty negligible, and you are buying a Praetor to run it. I'd consider droping him to a terminator armoured chaplain, as he will buff your cataphractii nicely. I'd then look at adding some additional combi weapons to your terminator squad - likely plasma for anti-meq duty.

 

I also think you should bring armoured ceramite on your spartan, over the auxillary drive and doser blades, if you can't afford it anyway.

 

As a whole I think that would help things a bit. To me you look a bit light on things to deal with big blobs of infantry, and you are relying on the Sicaran for anti-air. To cover these bases, you could form one big 20 man tactical blob for two of your rhino squads. That should give you free points for a death-dealing support unit of your choice. Even a flamer support squad would help, but there are losts of scary tanks you could add (whirlwind scorpius or predator executioner spring to mind) that would fit in the heavy support slot if you buy the spartan as a dedicated transport.

 

Hope that is some use. The army is fine as is, but I think your RoW is more restrictive than helpful!

Kor'Vesh, you gave me a lot to think about.

I do want to keep the Praetor simply because I want a powerhouse carrying my lighsaber, and a chaplain just wouldn't be able to stand up for too long IMO.

 

I ran the points on Quartermaster, and what I could do is remove one tac squad with rhino, keep one and make the second one a 20 man blob. even with that I would have about 45 points left to spend on a apothecary for the 20 man blob.

 

I was actually considering a whirlwind scorpious earlier since I heard it absolutely destroys legionaries. I also could add another Sicaran with heavy bolters just for more anti air capability.

 

So the question is:

 

Add another Sicaran for more dakka and anti air

or

Add an Scorpius for anti blob
