Adeptus
Specifically, I'm looking to add some Regimental Advisers to my Vostroyans, but I really want them to look, well, Vostroyan. My thoughts at the moment are to make up a master of ordnance and master of the fleet as a two man comms team, representing maybe an officer dedicated to communicating with both the fleet and the artillery regiments behind the front lines. But this might look a little goofy considering there's already a vox caster in the unit, and I can't find a suitable model to use for the 'officer' part of the team. What have other people used? The Master of Ordnance from GW just looks too Cadian for my tastes, I really want something in chainmaille with a big goofy hat and a monocle. hendrik
an easy conversion is to use bigger antena on the vox. I've used a sentinel powerpack glued to the apocalypse antenna bit, hardwired to my master of ordonances' helmet. You could maybe do something similar to one of the vostroyan sgt/vox models Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305561-hello-folks-what-do-you-use-for-your-regimental-advisers/#findComment-3997425 Share on other sites
Adeptus
Nice idea, I can feel my creative juices flowing already! Nicodemus Doloroso
Master of ordinance should be an officer so that's smother way to differentiate from your regular comms. What I did with my DKoK is put some medals on the chest of the company command comms trooper (who's already fancied up with a cuirass and sash) then put an extra long antenna on his back and a set of binoculars in his hand. For officer of the fleet I just use the GW model since he's navy. Adeptus
I've decided to model a Vostroyan medic as a comms specialist, with a vox backpack and holding a phone from the Stormtrooper kit instead of a syringe. His job will be to communicate with the rear echelons (artillery) as opposed to the forward elements of the army, which is the job of the regular vox caster. As a result, the senior officer can directly order artillery strikes in real time on targets of important. So, that will be my Master of Ordnance. And I think I will just use the GW officer of the fleet since, as you say, he's Navy and doesn't need to look like a Vostroyan. I'm assuming he has the ability to communicate with the fleet through the regular vox network. Any suggestions on an alternate model for a primaris psyker? Nicodemus Doloroso
Sorry I can't help with a primaris psyker idea ... I'm not much into psykers and until recently my armies were always psyker free but even my Puritan witch hunter has a pragmatic streak so I have a few cheap as chips =][= psykers. I use the psyker from Hector Rex kit (Forgeworld) and the old psyker from the daemon hunter box (OOP I think, alas). WarriorFish
Yeah, converting a normal trooper is a good plan but that might be difficult for the Primaris. However like the Naval officer he wouldn't really be from the regiment itself so you could have him different if you liked. Adeptus
So what I've done is model up a fellow using the jacket from the Tempestus Scions, the torso from the Leman Russ kit, a head from a Vostroyan and few other bits and bobs to make a master of ordnance. He looks like a suitably important senior officer. My master of the fleet is going to be the former medic dude, who is now a communications specialist liasing directly with fleet command. That just leaves me to find a suitably... grimdark model for my primaris psyker. Stay tuned, I'll post some pictures later. EDIT: Here we go http://i.imgur.com/CPGN0OL.jpg http://i.imgur.com/aEpanKq.jpg I still need to add some cabling from the phone handset to the vox backpack, and maybe add some wire antennas, but he's mostly done. http://i.imgur.com/4oJI1Qy.jpg What do you think? DOUBLE EDIT: I think I need to add some kind of tie so that his jacket looks held in place rather than just sitting on his shoulders. I'm not 100% happy with this guy, but I cobbled him together out of spare bits and I think a good paintjob will cover many sins. Vel'Cona
I converted my Primaris Psyker from the overcoat bits from the Cadian Command Squad sprue, with a bald head and a heavily modified force stave made from a Space Marine personal standard backpack (it's an old bit) and plenty of purity seals. I think the biggest focal point of the Primaris is his force weapon, since it's basically his badge of office and one of a kind in the IG codex. I'd spend the most time on that for best results! Good luck! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305561-hello-folks-what-do-you-use-for-your-regimental-advisers/#findComment-3998411 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Good work, the MT bits work very well! I think the primaris is a good start but he needs to look more psykery somehow. Perhaps a staff of some sort?
