Grim Dog Studios
Hi all! After starting a heresy raven guard force, i quickly changed my mind to having an alpha legion force instead (too many legions to choose from ). Anyway, thought I would start a WIP log for these sneaky sons of alpharius. I recently bought myself a cheap airbrush and compressor set to play about with having never used one before. So I set to working out a color scheme for my AL, using Vallejo game color falcon turquoise. It looks a lot better in real life than in this image, and the shading from the airbrush is more visible, so I might try again tomorrow when there is some better daylight. http://i.imgur.com/WXXNKBD.jpg?1 And just because a crappy image of a plain turquoise marine would be a poor start to a WIP log in my opinion, here is some pics of plain resin. First off is the start of the first tactical squad, the plan is to have two 15 man squads in my list. http://i.imgur.com/8JXCKh7.jpg?1 Next up is this chap, not sure what he represents but I think he is my favourite figure that I've ever built. I think he would make a suitable Delegatus or champion, or a vigilator at a stretch. http://i.imgur.com/JOzIvlM.jpg?1 Finally here is some cataphractii that I won on ebay for a reasonable price, without knowing that the previous owner must have not washed the resin before priming as you can see the primer started to flake off when i handled them, however for such a steal of a price I can hardly complain and so will have to set about stripping them. http://i.imgur.com/kBpUTTm.jpg?1 The current plan is to get a 1750 point force comprising of two 15 man tac squads, a headhunter squad, the above cataprachtii in a Land Raider, and then HQ and whatever else takes my fancy as I'm struggling to write a list at the minute. Many thanks for looking, James. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305788-the-alpha-and-the-omega-the-beginning-and-the-end/ Share on other sites
Grim Dog Studios
So I have the tactical squad primed at the moment, no pics of that sorry, but hey all thats happened is they've turned a darker shade of grey haha. I worked a bit more on the test mini, as you can see I am definitely no expert painter, but I am happy with it at the moment, as I do not paint very often. In fact this will hopefully turn out to be my first fully painted army http://heresy30k.invisionzone.com/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png http://i.imgur.com/7rAPR7l.jpg?1 Some more work needs to be done on the eyes, and a bit of a clean up where the wash has spread a bit etc I think its a good start though, and as I paint more I am sure to get a bit better at it. http://heresy30k.invisionzone.com/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png Many thanks, James Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305788-the-alpha-and-the-omega-the-beginning-and-the-end/#findComment-4006910 Share on other sites
Beachymike123
That's a sweet shade of turquoise going on there buddy. Looks nice in the photo. Don't worry about being a bad painter - its something that comes from experience. You should have seen the first minis I painted, boy oh boy. Sounds like a good start to your force though, looking forward to seeing more from you. Good luck with your project fellow traitor. Iron Within, Iron Without. Stercus
That's neatly done, clean, and the colour is nicely even. You may be a better painter than you think!
