SupremeGrandMaster_Daniel
Hey everyone! Don't worry, they're not going to be immortal space marines I had an idea for a space marine chapter, and I am looking to flesh it out more/get advice and direction. As the name might suggest, I am basing this chapter on the Persian Immortals. The idea is that they have a strong belief in taking up the mantle of their fallen brethren, so in that sense they never die. If one marine dies, another marine takes his place, his armor, weapons, name, etc, but not his rank. They always try to replace losses immediately, so: maybe they have an additional scout company ? Maybe they try to replace marines based on genetic heritage. I.e. the marine who inherits a brother's geneseed takes his armor and weapons and name ? on the other hand, maybe they have a sort of mentoring process? I don't know. Right now these are merely loose ideas, but that's why I am here, to get help and direction. _____________________________________________________________________ The only other thing I have is that I think they might lean towards stealth/ambush/special ops/shooting the enemy and incapacitating them before moving in to finish it tactics. As always, comments and criticism are welcome -Also, maybe they have a tendency to fight as a chapter? Arendious
Fighting as a chapter might make a stealth/ambush specialty difficult. "Okay, you hundred guys hide on that side of the road... you guys, get behind that tree over there... someone stick some branches on Venerable Brother Furtivus" I like the idea of a chapter where marines take up the mantle of their fallen brothers. An extra large scout company is a good idea, and possibly a very aggressive recruiting policy - probably from multiple worlds. Some ideas: Maybe limit the "immortality" to the 1st Company? With new marines stepping into the wargear and even the name of the original 1st Company? ( Maybe they did something SUPER heroic to get 'immortalized' this way.) Perhaps the 'immortal nature' of the chapter is a face they show outsiders? ("I'm Alpharius, and so's my wife!") So when dealing with those outside the chapter they only give the inherited name/rank they hold, but when alone with only other Immortals/trusted others they use their actual names, etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305825-the-immortals/#findComment-4002707 Share on other sites
