At last they are here brothers... the Promethium relay pipes, I've been waiting for them a lot of time.

what do you think they will bring to our army?, would the Purgators see the light again?

Just for clarity are these deployed as terrain? Or bought as a 'fortificaiton' or unit by an army?

I think they look great... I imagine it would be inexpensive enough to experiment with Purgators?  Salamanders are going to have a real hay day with that.

fortification like the aegis defense line. Indeed it would be good for flamer purgs or if you have few Acheron knight titan with his hellstorm template behind this.....

Call me a sucker! I just preordered the pipes and a set of purgators. ( I think I can actually hear Darius ' eyes rolling in his head. LOL)

I know it probably won't be tremendously effective but fun in maelstrom? Imagine if you could take comms with these! Wow.

I thought about it but looked like you had to buy a strong point with it, and when the rules for it arbt even available to look at until after its sold out, for all one knows, its an overpriced plasma cannon that acts like a vengeance weapon battery. Maybe better, maybe worse. Just in this day of flops not worth $300 and not a clue what it does

I already know what it does and yes, it is an overpriced plasma cannon, but what makes me mad is not the fact that this particular product is sold out but that GW generally still does :cuss like that. Extremely limited run for a meh model with unknown rules (except for those who read the leaks) and it's sold out before one can even think about buying, let alone make an informed decision about it.

Yea I'm not a big fan of the release order they've moved to being models first, rules second. It's definitely a little underhanded imo but at the end of the day it's still up to us to take that chance. Plus you know it will be restocked. It's new.... if you like it enough, it'll be available.

Now back to the Pipes O' Carnage!

I did not pre-order until I knew what these did. Since they are not in my Stronghold Assault book, I found (as you all probably already know) the rules are in this week's White Dwarf.

A better picture of the rules are here:

http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305689-rumours-filler-week-modelsunits/?p=4001434

So I will try deploying the pipes at the far edge of my deployment zone and using a Purgation squad with Incinerators that will run the gambit along the pipes (which deployed lengthwise look like they would cover a fair section of table).

Since reading the rules the big thing for cruddy armies will be this is the cheap way to confer a 4+ cover. But it seems something like a Razorback can get that as well. Where it seems ... unclear to me is it just says 'models' and it references a vehicle taking hits from using the cover feature (there is always a chance if you make a cover save the pipes might rupture and hit you with debris.) So I wonder if people will be trying to park knights behind them for a full 4+ cover? I hope not, it logically doesn't look plausible.

Anyway, I plan on running Las/Plas Razorback lines with a Purgation squad. I think we're talking a 40 points investment? Not bad really especially if like me, you're playing Maelstrom which nearly guarantees Objective placement will help the pipes play some role in the game. :)

I hate to poop on your parade. But it says flamers that are described in the rulebook get the torrent. Incinerators are NOT in the rulebook under flamers...

But if I am wrong about that, then it means that wraithguard with D-scythes can use the pipes too!!!

That's scary as hell! And I'll buy one for my eldar xD

In the GK codex, it says that incinerators are flamer type weapons as described in the 40k rulebook.

Thank you IndigoJack! I was silently cursing under my breath thinking I had flat out wasted the money (in an army with no 'traditional flamers'). Not only that but this piece of  fortification was what prompted me to stretch out my forces to actually include the much maligned Purgation squad.

Now back to the Pipes O' Carnage!

I did not pre-order until I knew what these did. Since they are not in my Stronghold Assault book,

P 30. P 32 if you want to take them with a void shield relay

Ah thanks for the page reference. I think I was just looking for that picture (which logically didn't exist) and they have a 'forbidden by Inquisition' place holder instead. But yea, that makes sense now.

I still see going a step further and potentially adding a Las razorback for the 4+ cover.... I mean that could be a nasty, cheap little camp of stuff that can hold a table quarter without too much babysitting.

With the Aegis I always used it with Chaos, and found the stuff I put back there always needed babysitting, or you risked over committing forces to it, thus watering down your advancing forces....

At the very least, I'm hoping it will be a fun experiment.

Ahh I see! I'm using the digital edition on my phone, and the whole 'incinerators are flamers for rule purposes' was compressed into the previous page lol

Suppose I can't use them for my wraithguard then Meh.

But I'd like to know how they work with our incinerators prot!
