Righteousrob
So I tried to create a chapter before by hashing out other things but this time I wanted to "pen to paper" first about a little background before I do more specifics on the homeworld and tactics and religion and ect. Please tell me what you think, what names dont make sense/used already, if its plausible. He had spent more time in the champers within fortress monastery Imanius than a mortal man had years in a lifetime. The Hall of Memories was ever silent on the slight other than the scuffling of feet or flickering of candle giving it any substance of noise. Captain Whetilo of 5th company always came here to reflect before setting out into battle or unknown circumstance. Here deep within the mountain on Dromo stood the great statues remembering the heroes of the Disciples of Fire and the relics of past warzones. To his left in a stasis field was the Chainsword of Bo, which slayed ten bodyguards of the rebellious Governor Grimla in the final battle against the Cult of the Slain. To his right the Honored Brother Helmic whose squad was credited with finding the lost Chainsword on Refrid IV and in doing so awakened a Necron Tomb world. His squad held for days waiting for extraction and his wounds would take him a month later. Whetilo could go for days recounting past glories but today was a day of both celebration and deep shame. It had been three decades since anyone had mentioned bringing honors to Hall of Memories for the Emperor’s gaze seemed to have fallen away from the Disciples. The Disciples were a fraction of their former glory and only by sheer luck had the 5th and Whetilo survived intact and at near company strength while training the 10th in the Oxataan System against the Orks. The 4th and 3rd companies had suffered major defeats fighting in the Predian Crusade helping retake worlds from the Tau expansion and both Captains had been lost to Tau battle suits. The 6th and 9th were deployed to the Cadian Gate and were suffering losses defending against the Chaos onslaught. Captain Kacus of the 6th and his Command Company had plunged into a volcano when a Slaneesh Sorcerer threw their drop pod off course. While these losses kept the Bells of Mourning chiming in cities throughout Dromo the tears the citizens shed were for the fallen Chapter Master Helar Rinas. Whetilo thought back to memories of Honored Master Helar, his unwavering loyalty to Dromo and her sister planets, his strategy with siege warfare, his passion for all the Disciples of Fire and the rage each reported lost battle brought him. Whetilo couldn’t determine if his passion for the marines or the prideful blood of Dorn had been his and the Chapters downfall. With each reported lost marine and lost battle the Chapter Masters rage and sorrow couldn’t not be contained and he vowed to avenge the deaths. When a distress call came from the nearby Creg system that a Word Bearer war band and chaos cults were threatening to take over the Hive Planet, Helar ordered the parts of the 1st and 7th to mobilize and strike quickly as he would lead them to glory. The Word Bearer war band The Blood Warriors were unlike any war band the Disciples had seen. They struck with quick furious assaults and died to a man, seemingly being defeated each time. Whetilo thought to him self if he had been there he could of warned the Chapter Master that this was by design, that the Blood Warriors were setting a trap, but Whetilo hadn’t been there. The Chapter Master had fallen for the trap, Dorn’s honor betraying him. During a Blood Warrior assault the Chaos attempted a fall back and the Master sensed glory and redemption for his Chapter. Pressing the fight the Master led his honor guard, 1st Captain and squads of marines deep into the city. Only when it was to late did the Greater Demon Prince show himself with his legion. Helar and his company attempted a last ditch effort to cut free from the trap, charging the Demon Prince, only Khorne was watching the battle closer than the Emperor. Each mighty swing of his sword the Demon cut leadership and history of the Disciples of Fire to pieces. His hide unscathed by the chapter’s mightiest weapons and marines. The Demon known as Urbious had crippled the Disciples of Fire. Only the servo skulls, which followed the chapter around, were spared, to show the downfall to the rest. Whetilo had seen the video once, but it played in his mind as if he had seen it a thousand times. It was then that Whetilo knew his chapter was doomed, every other living captain was too inexperienced to become a chapter master and he was recently promoted himself. The only living captain who could fill the role had left, called away by the Deathwatch over two hundred years ago. Whetilo had been a sergeant then but he still remembered the way Captain Harbo had led them from the front. In his black suit, blue shoulder guards and legs and yellow stripe on his blue helmet. Even amongst the Emperors finest he stood out in battle. His battle plans were thought out to every degree, he was never surprised and he trained his men longer and harder than anyone else in the Chapter. His tactics in infantry warfare were known throughout the system. He had risen the ranks quicker than any marine and when the Deathwatch had called on him to lead develop battle plans it had been a sad day amongst the Chapter. It had been Whetilo who had suggested asking the Deathwatch for their Honored Captain back to lead them; no Captain or anyone in leadership within the Disciples raised an objection to such a suggestion. Still it was still Whetilo who was shocked the most when the call from the Deathwatch was returned with a simple “so be it”.
