Rolepgeek
Hello! I'm not-so-sorry to say that I'm primarily a filthy Xeno-lover(a certain Greater Good in particular), but I do like Space Marines, as I do most races in the 40k setting, at least to a point, and the customisation they allow has always interested me. I've come up with ideas for my own chapters, ranging from renegade to utterly loyal, and the Bolter and Chainsword seems like the best place to learn more about the Adeptus Astartes, and develop my chapters to be higher quality with feedback from quality contributors. I'm relatively new to the hobby, and haven't really had the chance to buy more than a very basic battleforce, which I haven't had the chance to completely paint yet, either, despite having had it for several years, as it's difficult for me to find groups to game with, and time to paint and play. Glad to meet all of you, however, as this really seems to be a great place for learning and discussion, easily on par with Advanced Tau Tactica. A question for any moderators that I feel would easily be put here, though perhaps I'm wrong. In the Fan Fiction section, do stories have to be specifically about the Forces of the Imperium/Traitor Legions as the protagonists and presumably eventual victors? Or can they simply concern them as antagonists or major players? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305949-greetings-fellow-astartes/ Share on other sites
Olis
Hail and welcome to B&C, brother! Firstly, on making your own Chapters - there is a lovely place in the basement area of the front page called 'Liber Astartes' (which just so happens to be next to the Fan Fiction section). If you want to explore ideas for DIY Chapters or seek help for them, then feel free to drop by. :) Secondly, Imperial and Chaos factions are the focus of the website so having them play second fiddle to (filthy) Xenos in a story will likely be frowned upon. A story written from the pov of a Xenos isn't really welcome here. If a Xenos appears in the story... well that might be okay. It depends on what is being written and how long the perspective will rest on the alien. Rolepgeek
Good to know. Thank you, Brother. I did know about the Liber Astartes, and read the Octaguide before I registered, even, though when I eventually outline my DIY Chapter and ask for help and feedback, I'm certain I will still have managed to mess up somehow. I'm afraid I don't own the Space Marine Codices, nor have I been able to read very many Black Library novels; only a few of the Horus Heresy series, which, from what I've heard, few people find to be of canonical quality. Perhaps I worry too much. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305949-greetings-fellow-astartes/#findComment-4005070 Share on other sites
Graymane
Hello & welcome! Worry not. As they say, an imagination is a terrible thing to waste. Let your imagination run riot and remember that the Imperium was not built in a day and that even the Emperor had the occasional hiccup. There is an abundance of information, guidance and constructive critisism to be found on these forums, which i am sure will help you bring any ideas to a productive resolution. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305949-greetings-fellow-astartes/#findComment-4014839 Share on other sites
