Fluffy legions for Moritats

I had thought of Ultramarines or Emperors Children, where one was censored for something and the other was a perfectionist in his chosen art.

Hmm, an Emperor's Children Moritat, I can see him thinking of himself as a duelist like his sword-bearing brothers but of the later "walk twenty paces, turn and fire" sort. Or maybe he artistically choreographs his gunslinging in his head so that it appears like an elaborate dance, enhanced with ridiculous trickshots to show off his skills.

I can picture this guy corkscrewing through the air over the heads of an entire squad of hostile soldiers and planting perfect headshots on every single one of them, landing a perfect backflip befitting a Gold-winning Olympian Gymnast and then striking a pose.

Give him some ancient looking pistols and call it a day.

Damn it.

I have a pistolier sprue with 3 repeater pistols, 3 pistols and 6 pistols in holsters. I'm now want to make a duelist EC moratit.

All legions had moritats. Some simply had more than others.

nope, Salamanders don't use Destroyers or Moritats tongue.png

They still had a small Destroyer Cadre dedicated to xenocidal campaigns. It would make sense for these small units to be led by Moritats.

The World Eaters used Destroyer formations extensively. The closest thing they had to a Moritat fluff-wise was Skane, the Destroyer sergeant from Betrayer (surprisingly for a traitor World Eater, he was a nice guy, relatively speaking).

I really like the idea of an Emperor's Children Moritat (traitor or otherwise) in the mold of an expert gunslinger. Perhaps he was a disciple of gun kata? :P If he happened to be a traitor, then those rad grenades could easily be substitute with some grenades filled with psychedelic substances (read: space LSD bombs).

I'm actually in the final stages of planning some fluff to go with my future Ultramarines force. One of the main characters is a Moritat. Although in this case, he is a disgraced commander who was given command of the misfits and castoffs of the Legion - practically a penal unit of Destroyers forbidden to wear the Ultima and sent into the meatgrinder to die so that other, better, Ultramarines would not have to. Surprisingly, they managed to survive Calth due to their unorthodox battle doctrine.

My, current, EC moritat has a similar back story. His leadership style isn't quite what experdition command wants. So he is put in charge of the Probatii company. However he loves his position, despite it being a supposed punishment. He calls the marines under his command his lads, and has gathered a core of destroyers who he his managed to ensure won't return to the line companies.

So, back to that salamaders moritat issue. A allied detachment can't have a moritat as it needs to not be support officer I think, but can you take a normal detachment (and have your other legion be your primary) and bring one? I ask as I believe the salamanders have a flamer pistol upgrade option, which on a moritat is basically a "if I can reach you and have a chance of wounding you automatically die".

Wait can you bring destroyers in an allied salamanders detachment?

Moritats can never be compulsory HQs and Allied Detachments have only 1HQ slot.

I think that means Salamanders can, under no circumstances (that I see anyways) have Moritats of any kind. Destroyers, they can with Allied Detachment.

Lol you just broke the game.

If you could just take one hand flamer (S4) and get within range, you don't need to roll to hit, therefore you keep shooting the flamer template until there aren't units within the template range.

Congratulations, you just killed a Primarch with one hand flamer. Lol

Not that you need to take a sally moritat for cheese; the combat augment array lets you do the same

Ehhhh it only allows one roll to be a 6. Very far from broken.

How so? It says "any" not "single"

We've had the discussion when book 4 was released. Its one roll.

We also asked Forgeworld. Multiple times.

Would you care to link me to this discussion since this is the first I've ever heard about it?

Any rolls as in to hits, to wounds, etc.

It was an incredibly poor choice of words on their end.

I just don't understand why there's an inference of one roll in the first place

It'll take me a while but I'll try. Book 4 has been out since ~November so that conversation might be hard to find.

Just need to clean up some mould lines and green stuff some joints.

Not sure what half a dozen Flint lock pistols count as.

Either a brace of bolt pistols.

Or their could be loaded with depleted uranium rounds and have a chance to misfire and, thus, count as a brace of plasma pistols.
