JGeils81
Hey Fraters I have a question for you. I'm trying to add a melta bomb to my assault squad Sgt and this thing is huge compared to the model, where do you guys usually attach yours(if you do)? It's already got a magnet in it for removal, the sgt has a jump pack, magnetized arm with thunder hammer/power axe/power sword/chainsword, and other is magnetized with bolt/plasma pistols. I just can't seem to find a good place, where would/do you attach yours? Thanks! Grotsmasha
Pic when I get home, but I put all of mine horizontally magnetized to the lowest part of the backpack. Grim Dog Studios
Forgeworld sell smaller melta bombs in their legion power weapon sets. They are slightly larger than a frag grenade, and fit snugly on the belt of a marine. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Space_Marines/Space_Marine-Infantry-and-Accessories/LEGION_MkIV_POWER_WEAPON_SET.html I never really liked the size of the plastic melta bombs, so I use these instead when modelling melta bombs on minis. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306036-attaching-melta-bombs/#findComment-4006519 Share on other sites
Ovidius Incertus
Ditto the FW melta bombs. No problems getting them on a belt, even with other accessories on there (I often cut one pouch of the 3 pouch sets and attach the bomb to that). Grotsmasha's idea is really cool, though. I've done one (no pic) of a sarge holding the bomb by the handle and running with it, with chainsword in one hand and holster pistol on the right hip; covers all your wargear bases. Lord Commander Scrymgeour
As the rule book doesn't have a WYSIWYG anymore, I never model grenades or bombs of any description as I personally hate the look Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306036-attaching-melta-bombs/#findComment-4006873 Share on other sites
Stoic Raptor
The backpack method looks good. I used to mount them on the thigh, to attach to the belt. But in back looks best. Khornestar
As the rule book doesn't have a WYSIWYG anymore, I never model grenades or bombs of any description as I personally hate the look I'm with you on this, moreso for holstered pistols and such on CSM. It rarely looks right. The holster attached to the ragged cloth thing looks decent, but even that can interfere with the imagined range of motion on the model to the point that it looks super goofy. JGeils81
Thanks guys! I think it'll end up on the back of his jump pack. I have to do WYSIWYG for ETL, it'll probably be the only one that ever gets it, I thought about putting it in his hand but then either plasma pistol or thunder hammer are sitting and I've already modeled and magnetized those.. Machine God
I have placed mine on top of the backpack. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306036-attaching-melta-bombs/#findComment-4013006 Share on other sites
JGeils81
I ended up magnatizing it to his.... Posterior armor. Fits there pretty natural, just under the jump pack Anyone know how to add pics from an iPad? I don't get all the little icons in a post like on the PC... No little "picture" button or any of them Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306036-attaching-melta-bombs/#findComment-4013052 Share on other sites

Stoic Raptor
That's a more sensible place for it - why anyone would put a high explosive next to a jet exhaust is beyond me. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306036-attaching-melta-bombs/#findComment-4017384 Share on other sites
Ovidius Incertus
That looks really good. Can you post a picture of where you put the magnet on the bomb and on the mini? JGeils81
here you go Ovidius, It looks a little messy as I primed the SGT before I remembered I wanted a melta bomb on him. also there is liquid green stuff over the magnets to smooth out the surface. Valerian
I really, really, like this idea Grotsmasha. Like some of the others, I just haven't actually ever bothered modeling the Melta bombs, but I might start doing it this way.
