HardCoil
Hi Guys I'm getting back into 40K after taking a bit of time off after 3rd ed. Being new both to the mechanics of the game and the GK as a force, I'm hoping to get a bit of help for my army build here. Now, I'm going to be playing in a club which is not very competitive, so I'm thinking I'm not going to just max out on NDKs and termies. Into games will probably be played without named characters and a max of one NDK. Probably standard CAD also. 1500 points. With that said, here's some of the components I'm thinking of, I'd very much appreciate comments HQ: I'm going with a Librarian here, level 3. Is there any must takes for gear? Should he have a specific bodyguard, or just run along with a GKT squad? Troops: 3 squads of 5*GKTs, one psycannon, one hammer. Elites: 10 purifiers, 2 hammers, combat squadded, Rhino(?) Flamers? Dreadnought (Yes, I know, but this is a friendly setting, and I love dreadnoughts). Should I go with 2*TL autocannon or TL lascannon? FA: Stormraven. TL lascannon, TL MM. Not sure if I should put the purifiers in here? I don't think the locator beacon trick will be seen as sporting, so that's probably out. Razorback, TL lascannon. HS: NDK, heavy psycannon, sword, teleporter Low model count, but I'm planning a lot of conversion, so that's actually a plus. The idea is to add another NDK and make the list more competitieve, once I graduate from the kiddie pool Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306126-another-new-recruit-suggestions-for-friendly-army/ Share on other sites
jeffersonian000
Welcome! Everything about GK gearing is to taste, as in, you pretty much take what you want to use. That said, the general rule of thumb is 1 Hammer per 5 PA models, 2 Hammers per 5 TDA models, Incinerators on PA, Psycannons on TDA, never put a Hammer on the Squad's upgrade character (Justicars). On he different melee weapons, Falchions math out better than Halberds, while Swords are free. DreadKnights should take two weapons, one should always be the Psycannon, while the other can be the Incinerator or Psilencer, either one is fine. As to DK melee weapons, Swords are great, Hammers are great, Fists are free. Avoid Dreadnoughts. Deamon Wolf
yup dreadnaughts DIE sooooo quickly Dreadknights are soo much better ( admittidly double the cost ) also never put your troops in flyers as 1 lucky shot will kill them straight off better to have them in landraiders or rhinos the Storm raven is brilliant as an anti flyer unit or anti tank unit the Anti infantarry can be done by the rest of our knights But welcome to Titan Brother enjoy our Brotherhood Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306126-another-new-recruit-suggestions-for-friendly-army/#findComment-4008207 Share on other sites
Prot
The dreadnought is a 'fun' item for any army.... the Ironclad just seems worlds better. Enjoy your Dreadknights, and if you already have dreadnoughts, and are playing strictly fun games, what the heck... throw it in. It's your army. Oh and welcome. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306126-another-new-recruit-suggestions-for-friendly-army/#findComment-4008988 Share on other sites
