Skitarii: Best allies?

I'm thinking for Fluff reasons, if I wanted to add a small Mechanicum 'handler' group to my Skitarii I could use:

SM MotF modeled as the Magos

SM Scouts modeled as Thrall

SM Centurions Devs modeled as Myrmidons

SM Dreadnought modeled as Castellax

Sound ok?

Taking the Gene Bulked humans idea, would love to see some Ogryn bodies (with the Armour and riot shields) mixed with the Centurion and Skitarii kits, could make for some awesome Myrmidons D:

So, I got photoshopping and mocked this up.... If the base size on the Centurions and Ogryns are the same this is seemingly to scale... Oh dear...

I think there is potential in mixing the kits though, especially with some of the Skitarii parts.

Or is it time to put the digital paintbrush down? laugh.png

If you wanted to run assault centurions, you could always use the FW Charonite Ogryns as a base?

They already have the 'hands' for it, and would possibly require less work to turn into a counts-as unit.

Yeah they do look very Admech! Especially the tank treads. They'll look from the side with all of the wiring and power exhaust (that even has the mech symbol on it!)

And sadly while assault Centurions are cool they are are seemingly nigh useless on the table top :( rule of cool only goes so far!

30k is only really seperate if you decide it to be. FW largely don't care, they just say 'YMMV, 30k stuff pays a premium for some stuff because it's rarer, like Stubborn or Fearless for example'. Barring some of the Lords of War stuff, and a few of the Heavy Supports in Legion lists, there isn't much stuff thats gonna ruin 40k.

In my player group we allow 30k because it's fun and adds a new element to the mix up. Thus far it hasn't proven to be too bad.

Good ol' Space Marines.

I use Tactical Squads in Rhinos to provide cover for advancing Vanguard and Ruststalkers/Infiltrators, distract with drop-pod dreadnoughts, and mop up with Onagers.

Honestly I don't see not having transports as being a tactical killer. An Aegis Line (that they can take in their Maniple detachment) will provide them plenty of cover. Rangers, Ballistarius, and Onagers have great range. It's only the Vanguard that need to get closer, and having them hiding behind some moving Rhinos works just fine. With so many things getting Dunestrider or Move Through Cover and Relentless, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to get to grips with the enemy quite quickly and protect your models by getting them into assault.

Well, I have been considering GK + Skits lately. You have FA Rhinos, you have Flamers, you have majicks and you have tough customers taking the attention up front. Skits can then deal with AV, which GK struggle with at range, and kill air. Sounds good to me.

Immursturm, I like the GK idea too.

Im a GK player and as you said they have the av weakness. Also they are expensive. Add in some cheaper Skitarii with some AV fire power and it might work nicely.

As an example:

NSF

Librarian - ML3, Stormbolter, Hammer

5 TDA - Psycannon, Hammer

Rhino

Rhino

NDK - Sword, Flamer, Cannon, Teleporter

NDK - Sword, Flamer, Cannon, Teleporter

SM

10 Vanguard - 3 Arc Rifles

10 Vanguard - 3 Arc Rifles

10 Vanguard - 3 Arc Rifles

Onager - Icarus

Onager - Neutron

Onager - Neutron

1650

Well, basically the same as my Skits + IK list, but exchanged two IK, Void Shields and 10pts from Skits for GK.
