Charlo
For meant to be an or, Damn auto correct on my phone. I play BA, believe me I know what FC does, no need to laugh at me :) If they don't have unwieldy weapons they won't stand a chance against the Wardens, as they'll still get the 2+. I agree though, apples and oranges - mainly just saying that we can halt some Justy terms in thier tracks if needed :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306169-hh10-the-sons-of-barbarus-a-death-guard-tactica-thread/page/14/#findComment-4300798 Share on other sites
DuskRaider
They wouldn't be OP in the Elites slot, but as they are now they're nigh useless other than in ZM... they're really good in the corridors. Charlo
Nah, but they'd be very powerful as troops with Pride though. Theyre a great defensive unit for sure, no way are they useless. DuskRaider
No worse than the other Legion-specific Terminators, their specialty just lies in defense. With options like Predators, Land Raiders, the Leviathan and Deredeo Dreadnoughts, Sicarans, Heavy Support Squads, and now SQUADRONS of Vindicators... they're definitely the worst option. Not even power wise, but versatility. There's much less competition in the Elites slot. 1000 Sons
Already have plans for 10 Grave Wardens in a Caestus Assault Ram. Takes 2 heavy slots, but having 10 Grave Wardens dropping in the back field and smashing those hated quad launcher rapier teams, then claiming some back field objectives, and just running amok sounds fun. I think the grave wardens boost is nice, giving them some extra killing power, but the main issue with them is the same, how do you get them to a good spot on the field. It costs a lot of points with land raider, kharybdis, caestus, or spartan. Going loyalist DG might be a good way to have them infiltrating and maybe toss in a psyker with them for some extra boosts. I was about to say "but Grave Wardens can't claim backfield objectives, they're missing Implacable Advance." Then I glanced in the new red book to make sure and noticed they have another stealth buff: they do now have Implacable Advance. Well then. disease
Seems like grave wardens are that unit that are going to take your enemies backfield objective and hold it. Combine with calas typhon for extra denial. Dreadclaw? 1ncarnadine
I'm pretty excited, as Implacable Advance is what they really needed to force people to make that choice to assault. For armies based around assault they are now just extremely obnoxious, and they're now a great choice to march around with Typhon and his own dickish denial ability. Still, competing for a Heavy Support slot isn't great. But it's a step in the right direction. Charlo
Holy balls with Typhon they're nuts! His scythe will thin any enemy terms that charge too. Screw it, stick em in a Kharybdis! 1000 Sons 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306169-hh10-the-sons-of-barbarus-a-death-guard-tactica-thread/page/14/#findComment-4301335 Share on other sites
DuskRaider
Typhon plus a minimum squad of Grave Wardens is unfortunately too large for a Dreadclaw, but a Kharybdis or Caestus would work. I was thinking a Spartan, personally. You'd get the Grave Wardens and also a tough as nails tank that also has quad LasCannons to help with penetrating armour. The unfortunate part is the cost coupled with more limited mobility compared to a flying transport. There's always the Stormbird, haha Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306169-hh10-the-sons-of-barbarus-a-death-guard-tactica-thread/page/14/#findComment-4301337 Share on other sites
1ncarnadine
Or you could just plod them at whatever offends you, as I imagine we're all still running The Reaping and getting MTC because the new RoW is situational at best. Although at least they could save a heavy support slot with the option for Spartans as dedicated. Charlo
GWardens are still only one wound right? I think so yes, but powerfists mean they can happily smash back at 2W terminators and take then out 1 for 1 :D Still hurts losing one Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306169-hh10-the-sons-of-barbarus-a-death-guard-tactica-thread/page/14/#findComment-4301709 Share on other sites
disease
So, if we forget which slot terminators occupy for a moment, is there anything legion terminators can do better than deathshroud or wardens? The only bonuses i can see are price and slots Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306169-hh10-the-sons-of-barbarus-a-death-guard-tactica-thread/page/14/#findComment-4301866 Share on other sites
Charlo
Well they can't overwatch better, basic shooting is worse. Basic weapons are only power weapons. The get Charged and don't deny bonuses. Outside of upgrades don't handle Hordes as well either. Hesh Kadesh
Plasma and Melta. First turn Alpha Striking in a Pod, 320pts, and now you have a unit of 2+/5++ bimbling around your back lines sticking a chainfist into your Artillery tanks/platforms or Deredeo. Enigami
After the updates, I've got the fever that only more terminators can cure! For the last few days I've been trying to figure out a good way to utilize the new awesomeness of Death Guard terminators. I've been thinking of a pride of the legion list, but haven't been able to come up with anything yet. Does anyone have any suggestions? Are the buffs DG terminators got good enough to build a fluffy competitive list around? I'd appreciate any thoughts on this. I'd love to be able to field a horde of scary deathy terminators! Charlo
Great part is that you can take normal Termies too as well as grave wardens :D A true pride army l of all Termies is pretty nuts. Just need some anti AV support but I suppose that's what Grav Dreads are for. Enigami
Wow, Hesh! That was fast! Thanks, that'll give me something to think about. I didn't even think about the valk. Makes sense though.
