Suffer not the witch to live - Entry completed

So, for it's monthly painting contest, my local GW has decided on psykers, witches and wizards for May.

This will obviously not do, and I intend to enter a mini-diorama of a Templar killing a witch of some sort. Does anyone know of a model that would work nicely for that sort of project, that is a model that could convincingly be set to lie dead on the ground, or that is slightly bent forward - i could then add the BT running him through.

Ideally, I'd try to stay within human psykers, as with other races one may think we're purging the xenos. Or a Tzeench daemon, I guess.

About the best I can think of (and it might not be quite what you're looking for) is one of the Renegade Rogue Psykers FW produces. One of the pair is holding his head, eyes bulging, bending back a bit. On a good day, you can find him solo for sale on eBay.

If you chaosify the marine with the bolt pistol-- maybe swap the pistol for a casting hand; add some horns, spikes, etc. It would work nicely.

Thanks for the initial feedback.

I'm also contemplating using this guy :

I think that changing the orientation of the left arm and head, and knocking off the sword might allow it to lie down in a not-completely-wooden posture. Other option is to not place the head and have it held by the templar.

Just my opinion, but I would put the witch in mid fall, no more than 35 degrees off from vertical, arched back, massive gaping wound diagonal from shoulder to hip, the templars sword placed as it has just dealt this wound.

ANother possibility would be to use the guy here on the right :

After, of course, having duly scraped the imperial eagle and added some chaos symbols.

Can anyone suggest a good sprue for chaos bits, like a staff head and stuff ? Chaos tac squad ?

I'd suggest either a plastic chaos cultist from Dark Vengeance, a flagellant from WHFB, or a Vampire Count necromancer. I recon a chaos cultist is probably your best bet. The flagellants have robed legs, so it would be pretty difficult to model one lying on the ground.

Meanwhile, I'm getting some work done on the brother that will be doing the cleansing :

The tabard and head are from the BT upgrade sprue, the legs and cape from the SM Captain sprue, the plasma from the assault kit, and the sword from one of the GK squads. The resemblance with the Dark Vengeance Chaos lord is intended.

Taking shape : still have to paint the shoulder pads and figure how the hell out i'm going to do the deamon's head. In the end, he'll be facing the herald of Nurgle

Looking good, bro! He isn't really a witch, but the Herald should work very nicely thumbsup.gif

These are just technicalities. Is it an abomination? Is it warp-tainted? Does it manifest psychic powers? Is it made of wood and floats? If at least two answers are positive, then... A WITCH!

@Ciler - Can't wait to see more progress and the finished diorama. The templar is great, by the way, full of character (though, I'm not a fan of green lenses).

Progress report :

A face view of both models. For some reason I can't help but imagine they're singing a duo in that shot.

Now to figure out how to set up the ground around them. There's also a bit of detail work left to do.

Here's the almost final entry.

The scroll reads "Deny the witch".

Well, if you could ask your buddies at the local store :D Sometimes I would look under the table at my local Games Workshop for bits and pieces that they'd throw away... then make props, dead things, or blings on my Templars... I'm sure you could find some under the shelves of your LGS ;) Also, if you have a buddy there who plays daemons, I'm pretty sure you could scab some bits that he has damaged too much, maybe some skull pieces, maybe some more daemon heads, arms...

Wish that was the case, but unfortunately no. My local store is quite small (actually I understand it is the smallest in France), and only has a handful of players, the local bitz box is therefore quite small, and does not currently include any nurgle bitz.

On a side note, the more I look at it, the more glaringly obvious it appears that neither weapon is chained on the brethren, which is something I will need to address.
