Dark Librarian
Hi guys. I'm totally new to the playing side of 40k. I need to know in the assault phase can you fire your pistol during charging your opponent? Aeternus
If the pistol is an assault weapon, you can do the usual move, shoot, and still charge, while in combat it gives an advantage. However you can't shoot in shooting phase, then shoot while charging. Eg, space marine moves 6", then shoots his bolt pistol at a target, then charges 2d6". If said marine also has a ccw, the pistol gives him an extra cc attack. However in the event the pistol is NOT an assault weapong, ie heavy or ordnance?, they can't move, shoot and charge. Pistol is a different category than assault weapon or the others. Pistols have a couple of rules that effectively make them assault 1 weapons that also count as CCWs. Mr. Shine
Specifically you cannot fire your pistol during charging as you say, but you can fire pistol weapons in the shooting phase before and then charge in the assault phase :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306322-firing-pistols/#findComment-4012961 Share on other sites

Actually, operationally, you are both correct. It should be pointed out that Cypher does have the ability to use the ranged profiles of his pistol in melee. He is the only one capable of doing this, though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306322-firing-pistols/#findComment-4013128 Share on other sites
Acebaur
There is no such thing as a pistol that is heavy or ordnance. "Pistol" is it's type and a weapon can only have one type.
