honeybadger33
Wtih the prices of GW paint being so high I need an alternative, Im aware that some pints wont work. I saw some craft and hobby paint today at hobby lobby called Anita's all purpose craft paint. Will this work> Its only1 buck. JGeils81
I actually started off with craft paints, tried three different brands, just weren't very good. I tried thinning them with different things, water, alcohol, I tried thinning more etc. the pigments in them just aren't fine enough for me and either clog detail or don't cover enough. I still use them for basing however. There are alternatives to GW though. Vallejo, P3, Polly Scale, Testors etc Best bet is to get a starter set of different colors for the brand you want to try if possible and see what colors work, not all will suck. I tried them from Hobby Lobby. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306346-paint-question/#findComment-4013080 Share on other sites
honeybadger33
I have some Army Painter, vallejo Model and air, but I mostly have GW. I was just curious to see if any of the craft paints were any good since they were so much cheaper. Based on what you said I believe I will stick with GW and what all I currently have. I have a shelf full of GW and so far its been the best for me. I just hate having to order it because there is only one little comic shop in the nearby town that has anything GW related and they dont carry but about 8 colors because no one but me is into WH40K which sucks. I may never play a game against another person unless I build two armies and on my income, thats gonna be a long time. srpelicano
I started using the Vallejo line of paints. There's more in each pot for less money and I find the dropper set up helps me with mixing and watering down with much less waste than GW pots. That and the GW paints seem to dry up a lot quicker.
