Very nice! Is there any way a group shot from the back could be made, so we can see the detail on the backpacks and robes?

I'll try to arrange that on the next batch. smile.png

Back packs are really dull though. Just brown, and high lighted once with scag brown. Robes looks the same as the front. r

Ah well, I would still ask to see them, and thank you for the effort that is to be expended. biggrin.png

hehe, I'll get that picture up for you. But right now I gotta dig into the Ballistarii.

Another curious question. Did you hard install (glue) the mono-task servitor into the ballistari?

No its not blue tacked. :D Its just that the pieces are so tight that they hold the whole model intact. But if I bump into the table the whole thing collapses.

The spray is from army painter. One red spray and one bone white spray.

The iron strider kit isn't so intimidating after you have done one. Once you see where all the pieces go, you also plan how to paint the model. But I guess it depends on the colour scheme too. The mars pattern is really easy.

So do you take it apart to paint it. I mean separate the red from the bone?

And please tell me you will glue him together in the end.

Yah, I do take it a part when I paint it. Basically its the upper part in one piece, and the legs. Once everything is painted, yes it will be glued together for stability msn-wink.gif

Thank the omnissiah. I had a friend who just kept his stuff blu-tacked and was mortified.

Dunno, that cream color is a bit of a bear. I went for an even more simple scheme and I'm still struggling to paint through units of Skitarii. The price tag on those Ironstriders isn't helping their case, either. sleep.png

I could imagine that It's for when you destroy his units, he just pulls em apart and lays them down on the table laugh.png

Awesome looking stuff, especially the dunecrawler. I do tend to agree the pricetag of the ironstriders doesn't help their case. Plus lining up those leg cables with the legs and the breakable bits on it. It does look nice when finished however. Any plans on doing the upcoming cult mechanicus stuff?

Thanks guys.

As for the Ironstriders/Dunecrawler legs and bone white. I just sprayed them with a bone white spray and shades them with Seraphim Sepia. And thats it. Of course some parts are painted metall, gold and black. But not much more is done. Of course, I can when I have time, put a thin layer of bone white onto of the shade, to make it pop more. But as for now, this will do.

@Vash - ok, I did a base/shade on the legs of my Onager and it didn't look that good!  Wonder if there's a problem with my technique (likely)?

I'm looking forward to seeing what folks do with CultMech though.  Robots just ask for some cool conversions!

Well the key is to have a smooth layer to begin with. Preferably done with a spray can/airbrush.

If you don't have access to that, paint 2-3 thin layers of bone white.

Next step is also important, and its to soak the parts with Seraphim sepia shade. The most common misstake people do is to take to little. By soaking it you can move the shade around and get the right amount you want.

Remember that the shade doesn't dry instantly, and will not settle as fast if you have a think layer of paint.

Adding a thin layer of shade (the common thing many do), will force the shade to dry quickly and give a spotty effect or water marks.

Yep, always drench with washes. Heavy-brushing, like how one would do with the ironearth.

Rakarth flesh is a good base for bone. I'd do a basecoat with a tank brush of rakarth, then think progressive layers of ushabti bone.

Question to you guys.

I have been challenged to a 1250 pts game. Versus tyranids, where he has two FMC's. I don't know which ones, but I am assuming a Flying hive tyrant at least.

Anyhow, I would like to field a pure Skitarii list, or at least as pure as possible.

This is what I have:

- 10 Vanguards, Plasma calivers x3, omnispex, phosphorex & power weapon

- 10 Vanguards, Arc rifle x3, omnispex, arc pistol & arc maul

- 10 Vanguards, Arc rifle x3, omnispex, arc pistol & power weapon

- 10 Rangers, omnispex (have 2 transuranic arquebus also)

- 10 Rangers, omnispex

- 5 Ruststalkers, standard equipment

- 5 Infiltrators, taser goads & flechette blaster

- 3 Dune crawlers, heavy phosphor blaster

- 3 Ballistarii

I also have access too:

- Militarum tempestus infantry

- Astra Militarum veterans, sentinels

- Valkyrie

- Vulture

- Imperial Knight

- Inquisitors

- Officio Assassinorum

* edit - what are the Ballistari armed with??

Okey, done with 5 models this morning/lunch.

Its not Skitarii per say... but skitarii models.

These will be my "counts as space marine scouts".

Gave the the bare heads, painted them as skulls. Also gave the the stub carbines, as I don't intend to use them, there won't be much confusion. Was actually pretty fun creating these. Cutting of the hands for the guns, and adjusting them so they would fit.
