That's an awesome idea! Now I really feel like a scrub for intending to just use BA scouts and calling it a day. But will you have enough bits left to mock up a second "Scout" Squad? msn-wink.gif

Yah, I have enough for a second scout squad, but I won't be needing it. Going with the Flesh Tearers Strike force detachment. Only need one TROOP choice msn-wink.gif

why are you using them as scouts?

Because I have an BA detachment. Mainly to get drop pods.

And I like to have my army look like they all belong to the same faction.

Finished a test model for my Kastelan Robots. I sprayed it grey as I wanted to try to give it the same effect as GW has, scraped of paint job.

I also added Space Marine Centurion shoulder pads as I wanted to beef the model up a bit.

His partner in "crime" will be equipped in the same way. Was thinking of just giving him the Carapace upgrade and keep his fists (as they look they mean serious business :) ).

Multi pass :D unit would be nice. Love that movie, so that would be a nice way to explain the setup.

Whats your take on multi purpose units?

Good eyes you got mate. Didn't think anyone would notice the dust on the legs really. So thanks for taking a closer look.

@Vash looking good, how did you paint your red? The weathering is nice as well.

Thanks.

I kinda experimented on this model. I had ran out of black and red spray cans... and I really wanted to paint the model this weekend when I was at home. So, last night I decided to look over the alternatives I had in my spray can box. I found a grey one. And looking at GWs models they have added grey colour on the areas where it suppose to be "chipped of red paint" to reveal the original paint.

Anyhow, with that in mind I base coated the mini with grey.

Second step was to soak it in Nuln Oil shade. This to make it easier for me in later stages to paint the model it self. Meaning, areas I can't really reach will be black and gaps and recesses will be filled with black too.

Third step now was the red (with experience now, I would go for metallics before the red...). I watered my Mephiston red down a bit. Don't know if my paint is defect or it is suppose to be so thick... I have bought two and they are both really thick...

Anyhow, adding one to two layers, depending on how red I wanted it. I tried to vary the hue on different areas.

Forth step (to be switched with the on above) adding metallics.

Fifth. adding Agrax Earth shade all over the model. This will smoothen out the layers all over the model, and if you add a lot of shade, it will create some pooling on some areas, creating a dirty look. Take care to not to pool up to much though.

Sixth step is just a single high light on the different areas.

The Castallan looks very good - the shoulder pads are a great addition.

Have to say that I hated this leg-pairing, though, I ended up re-modelling mine a little to give a wider stance.

I totally agree with you. But I don't dare to experiment on the first models. Need to get a feel for them first, how they hold up.

But the thing is... I am not sure I'll get more Kastelans... Have some ideas on arm and leg positions I want to try out.

The forge world of Mars is never sleeping. Under construction, by the orders of Xeno Inquisitor Vash, are many fearsome units. Some surveillance have uncovered some units...

More prisoners and "volunteers" are shipped over to the factories under the firm command of Inquisitor Vash.

This Imperial Knight is my first attempt on using magnets. I usually just buy a new model if I want a different setting, but... I can't decide what to equip this Knight with, so I decided to give it a try with magnets.

Hello,

 Snip...

As usual for those who have seen my other plogs. I tend to speed paint. I prefer playing with painted miniatures over the grey menace that it is pretty common.

Your speed painting is better than my detailed slow painting.

What Busby said. If I painted as fast as you do, my models would look like the inside of a McDonald's cheeseburger. unsure.png

@ Vash, how did you feel about assembling those Kataphrons?

Fighting illness at the moment, sinusitis...

So I can't really paint or do anything. Been like this for a week now, and with the treatment... perhaps another week...

Went out working in the rain when I thought I was recovered... foolish me...

Anyhow, the Kataphrons were easy to assemble. The only real issue I saw with them was the tracks. The mould line goes through the middle along the whole track. Cleaning it off was a drag really. Thankfully the underside (track on the ground) don't need much attention and some coverage comes from the track guards (one on the front).

I would rate these Kataphrons as the easiest among the Cult/Skitarii boxes to assemble.

I just got done assembling a set of Destroyers. The hardest part was lining up the power cables from the backpack to the gun servo arms.

Magnetized the Grav and Plasma while I was at it, since I would like to try both!

I am looking forward to seeing your Kataphron painted vash. You have a talent.
