Should Thanatar be a gargantuan creature?

Hi,

I'm returning to GW games after a long break and really love the look and feel of 30K FW Mechanicum.

I wanted to get some thoughts on whether folks feel the Thanatar should/could be classified as a gargantuan creature. It pretty much fits the size criteria and it would help resolve some of the weaknesses of the model, such as Instant death, firing both weapons at the same time and being bogged down in melee with stomp.

At the current 240 and 295 pt cost for the chasis, the model would be good but would it be OP?

Appreciate your thoughts

Well, Eldar just got a Jump Gargantuan Creature with T8, two Destroyer cannons and 6W for 295 points. But 30k doesn't really follow 40k trends.

It would be a great buff to him. But I think Paragon of Metal already makes him pretty strong. That and dudes repairing him means he's pretty hard to murder.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm definitely still thearycrafting but 2X or 3X Castellax seem like a much better more resilient purchase than a single Thanatar.

Pretty much similar shooting capacity and much more attacks and wounds if mired in melee.

Thanatar is a sexy sexy mini though

Yeah Castellax are borderline OP. If they were any better in melee, or faster, they'd be pretty insane. As is, they're a very tough shooting platform who can also fight their way out of melee, and even carry flamers to deal with tarpits on their own. They outclass all other Troops choices for sheer flexibility.
