Mission:
Attack Without Warning

TURN 1

Iron Hands deploy in the middle of the table as per mission rules. Then vengeance rains upon them! The Deathwing deep strikes into action unloading a storm of twin-linked bolter and assault cannon fire at 2 objective holding combat squad of tactical marines, and a combat squad of sternguard with their warlord. Thanksto the mission special rules the Deathwing are also able to assault on the turn they arrive from reserves, the iron hand tactical combat squads are wiped out giving up FIRST BLOOD.

TURN 2

The Iron Hands retaliate killing several deathwing terminators with ease, only a handful survive. Then the cavalry arrives! The Ravenwing come in full force in support of the 1st company turning the tide of the battle back in the Dark Angels favor, landspeeders hunt the imperial knight whilst the ravenwing attack squadron squares off against the iron hand assault terminators and sternguard in an effort to attack the enemy's greatest strength head on and neutralize the threat.

TURN 3

The land raider crusader and the assault terminators from the Hammerfall formation are uterly beaten by the combined effort of the ravenwing, deathwing and sammael in his sabreclaw. The imperial knight takes notice of the deadly landspeeders with dual multi-melta flanking him and goes after them. While the remain landspeeders unload typhoon missile launchers on it from the opposite side. The sternguard are wiped out by the ravenwing SLAY THE WARLORD is achieved by the Dark Angels as the librarian bites the dust.

TURN 4

With most of their units taken out of the equation the Iron hands call upon the might of their hammerfall terminator squad to save the day. However the dark angels quickly prove the folly of their believe as the deathwing survives the volley of fire and the land speeders finish off the imperial knight and then bring their heavy flamers to bear upon the scout squads wiping them out easily. The Iron Hands with little left to fight back with concede the battle.

WINNER: DARK ANGELS

I say it gets a cover save. Sometimes the rules make no sense plus whatever was on the other side of the forest probably got a save.

What exactly gives it the cover save in your opinion?

The rules from PREVIOUS editions that said units get cover saves when shooting across area terrain are NO LONGER a rule.

The only rule to consider is "is the imperial knight 25% obscured"

So you are saying you really can't tell where 25% of that imperial knight is? Because from what i see maybe 5% of the knight is partially blocked by a branch or two with the rest of the knight sticking out in the open clear as day.

The trees are unpainted perhaps that makes it harder to see?

That pic was the best case shot against the knight by a squad of bikes, from the looks of the other pics. I'd grant the save, unless it was just the one model firing.

Lol yeah it was my 1 deathwing terminator firing his assault accnong and he rolled 2 sixes. Then my opponent cried cover save and im like 'from what??' he said the trees and i said 'im shooting u right between the trees through a wide gap my guy can see ur at least 90% of ur knight without obstruction'

So i took the picture for a 'models eye view' to show him that there is really nothing at all blocking his knight from view.

The only rule in 7th edition that matters if 25% covered unless you are inside ruins.
