TacoMareen
So I have this really good idea for a roman themed ig army and i had a really good idea. I saw once in a book where the roman general had a wolf's head on his helmet. I plan to replicate this for those guys who lead the individual infantry squads. I've been looking for this kind of head but i can't find anything. My question is, do you guys know of any heads thst fit the bill or is a conversion thing where i have to chop a wolf's lower jaw off? An example of what i mean. http://flickrhivemind.net/Tags/cornicen/Timeline (Thing is messed up, is the bbcode different on this site?) WarriorFish
I don't think Roman generals ever wore wolf heads, but in the 41st Millennium anything can happen ;) Space Wolves would be my first start for wolf heads, as you might expect. Scale might be an issue for Guardsmen though? For something like this you're probably looking at conversion work or raiding another model range for bits. There are several Roman ranges out there, it'd just be a matter of finding a good quality one at the right scale and you should be able to find one. Again, might need some conversion work to 40k it up though. It's a cool idea, so please show us your progress on this! WarriorFish
GW models are 28mm "heroic scale", so that's what you'd want to go for if possible. There's a fair bit of leeway though as it's not exactly a precise measurement. My searches have not been particularly fruitful, the Hail Caesar might be your best shot. Or maybe a Fenrisian Wolf? There's a couple of open mouths that could work nicely, perhaps a little large but surely more impressive for it and would allow you to mount them on any head? Carraigf
http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0288/8306/products/wgh-sprue-16-caesarian-command-sprue-b_1024x1024.jpeg?v=1383712407 You could try this sprue from Warlords hail ceasar range, they are 28mm, so won't look too out of place on guardsmen. I've used their celt heads from the same range on cadian torsos and they scale well.
