A little help please..

I haven't played 40k in a while. I have 24 terminators, 5 paladins,3 dread knights ,Draigo, a Grand master, and a librarian. That being said, I have ordered 20 power armored grey knights. What are the best way to arm then and what type of way to build them? Any help would be great!

Thanks,

Hey mate,
Do you have the codex? What opponents do you play? What sort of play style would you like? The best unit build to counter x isn't always the best to counter y! What point range are you looking to play at? Sometimes just throwing together something and having a few games is the best way to figure out what you like :)

I've been running some small'ish point games lately (1250) and had success with:

1 librarian w/ liber daemonica, cuirass of sacrifice, lvl 3, bolter

2 x 5 terminators, 1 hammer, 1 psycannon upgrade (librarian joins one of them)

10 x interceptors, 2 incinerators

2 x Nemesis Dreadknights, personal teleporter, psycannon, greatsword and 1x incinerator.

Wanted to try some sanctic since I've been going divination for a while. If rolling gate of infinity: deploy on board, if not: Deep strike. The whims of reserves coming on the board is a bit of a PITA but gate helps. Draigo helps a lot with this, likewise with a second librarian (much greater chance of getting it in at least 1 squad). In this case you have librarian w/5 terminators, 10 interceptors and 2 NDKs guaranteed on the board shunting and teleporting up with 5 terminators deep striking whenever they decide to arrive.

In larger games I've brought an aegis defence line with comms relay for rerolling reserves, which I feel is a must if you want to "deep strike everything", with an inquisitor w/3x servo skulls to aid with scatter. The sky is the limit really, unless you want to sit back and shoot that is, or grab a lot of objectives /whimper :)

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! It's kinda hard to get a reply some times.

Yes I have the codex. Umm I haven't played in a while so I kind of  feeling like a babe in the woods. As for what style of playing I think I would like to play aggressive and  bully opponents around with my terminators. I need a list that does well with all comers since I don't know what I'll play against. I think most play chaos space marines. So any advice would be awesome!!

Thanks

Hi Big Dawg. Welcome to Titan.

For a brief overview of our 7th edition codex, look to the Primers stickied at the top of the forum. They're written specifically with new players in mind, as well as those returning to Titan after a long stasis in the Dead Fields.

Looking at you collection, I'd say you have a number of ways to go. Grey Knights are typically played using the Nemesis Strikeforce, which can be found on page 94 of the codex. Our playstyle revolves around utilising Deep Strike, Shunt/jump moves and Ravens to rapidly deploy into the enemy's face. This allows us to leverage our mid-range firepower and formidable melee capability to its utmost, whilst minimising the amount of time we spend getting shot up prior to making a charge.

Welcome Dawg!

The beauty of what you have is it's all still relevant! (not like those rifle-dreads I still see once in a while that make me cringe.)

The beauty of what you ordered is the flexibility of the kits. I really think the next GK release will have a special warp weapon, Titan-hand crafted- anti-everything-thing-a-majig. But until then the kits are so flexible.

I wish I could recommend strike squads, but since you have termies, I'd really look at Interceptors. With my first 10 I magnetized the backpacks. I'm very glad I did, as I do use the odd strike squad, but not typically. The backpacks will move a bit, which is fine for me, but the flexibility is very nice.

If you don't want to go that route, my first use would be 5-10 Interceptors, then 5 Purifiers. This is really preference though. Right now I'm out of my Interceptor phase, and heavily dosing Purifiers so that's my preference.

The backpacks will move a bit, which is fine for me, but the flexibility is very nice.

The backpacks don't really move if you use the trick where you make a notch, but keep the "bump" on the model's back.  It'll still insert into the hole part of both the regular backpack and the personal teleporter backpack.  I can re-link the video that shows how this is done, if y'all need it.

This two part tutorial on how to magnetize infantry models was especially helpful to me.  The second movie (starting around 1:28) has the bit about how to do backpacks.
